Periods and BFing question plus milk supply question

Good morning all

Those of you who breastfed, how long was it/how old was your LO when your monthlies returned? I ask as Sydnee was 14 weeks old thursday gone and after an uncomfortable day-to which I had no idea why as it's been a while lol-I got my period.

I'm not particularly fussed about it, ok, maybe a bit miffed, as I was led to believe I was free of them whilst BFing...after looking online I can't find that much info...I was wondering if maybe they were returning as Sydnee's dropped the majority of her night feeds, having her supper about 6pm, feeding at midnight then not getting up until 6am...She feeds a lot in the day, I follow her lead, if she wants boob she gets boob, but I was wondering if dropping the night feeds were affecting me at all? IIrc, you produce more prolactin in the early hours of the morning, so by her not feeding would this affect it, and will this affect my milk supply in general?

Would it be worth my expressing a feed in the earl hours? Im normally up and I am expressing again as Sydnee is having a daytime ebm as she needs to get back into the swing afte her Bottles Are Evil saga and my going into hospital soon....or will my supply be fine and kept at high enough levels through her daytime feeds?

I breastfeed and have had regular periods since so was 3 weeks old And he was on my boob for hours back then. And remained so till a few weeks ago.

I don't think there is any definate reason why your period has returned. Some women get them while still BF'ing, others don't.

Also her dropping night feeds is normal from around 12 weeks once the gut matures and they adjust to day and night. I'd not worry about expressing or anything. When she is hungry she'll let you know. Plus you'll have a big 4 month growth spurt to contend with soon and she'll be wanting loads more then and proably during the night also.

millie was about 15 months old when my "periods" came back. and i think even then they were only caused by the pill! i BF for 8 months.

i did do the majority of my feeds thru the nite, she was a bad sleeper from 4-8 months so we co-slept and she could just latch herself on as many times as she wanted.

Mine returned when Ellie was 9months. It definitely coincided with her dropping a couple of feeds. Oh and I had major PMT leading upto my period (thought didn't realise at the time), I don't know if it was just because it took me completely by suprise or because it was the first time after so long?

Mine returned after 6 weeks, and then to add insult to injury I had 2 in one month!

Mine came back when I started weaning at 6 months but I don't think there is any logic to it.
