I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and started having period type pains and cramps this afternoon. They were constant and now they come and go quickly but not regular and no pattern ... Could it be things just moving around or the head engaging further? Midwife told me she thinks it could happen any day (think she just said that to humour me) but it doesn't feel how id expect a contraction? Baby hasn't slowed down that much but belly does keep going hard every now and then

First thing I want to say is that baby shouldn't slow down as a sign of labour. If baby's movements change, always get it checked!!

As for labour - we're going back a few years, but when it started with my little boy I just had period pains ALL day, that eventually started to become a bit stronger and then I knew. But early labour is very much like period cramps (for some people it might be different). This also went on for about 4-5 nights for me - I remember getting a sweep on the Thursday, having regular "pains" and my tummy would harden... But it always amounted to nothing overnight!!!

Good luck xxx

Thanks Hun.. Pains have all stopped today I was hoping yesterday was the start :( x
