I've started taking peppermint oil capsules for my IBS and am glad to have found something thats working! However, have been getting a lot of cm (tmi!) unusual for time of cycle - just after af so I googled it and apparantley it is a uterine tonic and can cause contractions - do you think its safe to keep taking it till I ov??? Booooo can't find anything else that works!!

I'm an aromatherapist and often use peppermint essential oils with pregnant women as it's one of the only ones that is safe. As long as it's not too concentrated (or as you say it can cause uterine contractions) I'd say a capsule might be a little too heavy, can you drink say peppermint tea instead? X

Yeah I have the tea but it doesn't work as well, but I could have the tea instead from just before I ov up to af though just in case :) Thanks x

Sarah I suffer with IBS as well and was told by my Gp that peppermint capsules are safe to continue taking as I asked the same question due to taking them myself.
