Hi girls, hope ur all having a good weekend! It would seem my Dr has referred me for a pelvic ultrasound, didn't realise they were actually doing that! But apt on Thurs. I realise my missing AF has made a dramatic return but hey I'm still gonna go! My question is does anyone know what this test will actually tell me?!! x

there's no problem at all doing the ultrasound if you've got AF staying, for some of the ones I've had they've stated I have to have it during AF. Even for internal ultrasounds.

They'll have a look at the shape of your uterus and your ovaries. They'll look for signs of poly cystic ovaries (not necessarily PCOS - that's like an extreme case of polycystic ovaries which are really common) and anything that looks unusual. They can also measure the thickness of your womb lining and stuff like that.

Can be done internally or externally. Externally is with a gel on your belly and a full bladder. Externally you have an empty bladder and they use a 'dildo probe'. That sounds and looks scary but is actually a lot less uncomfortable than an external scan.

Thanks scotch egg! It's the external one. Feel like things are all moving in the right direction! X

Ive just been refered for scan too hun.
They checkin me for PCOs/Fibroids.

I think sumtimes they do it to look at shape of womb aswell

Hi,

I had one last yr to check for pcos, they will have a good look at your ovaries. Hope it goes ok.

Xx

I have PCOS!! I have to have an internal one they can never really see on an external one for me :/.

Atleast you'll know where you stand and have a few answers.

Good Luck! x
