Hiya

So I had a bit of a revelation today. I was told a few weeks ago that I have pcos which came as a bit of a shock because although it took me nearly a year to concieve my af was pretty regular before concieving but I've only had about 3 since.
Anyway I was reading something on here about bf today and it made me think, because of the imbalance of hormones that comes with pcos could it have an effect on bf!?
I unfortunately couldn't bf, I was very disappointed. I didn't produce a single drop of milk in the 5 days that I tried. Obviously having to ff instead.
But it's always bothered me as to why I never produced anything.

Anyhow I did a bit of googling and it turns out pcos can have an effect on supply. It said it can cause a low supply and in some cases no supply at all
I'm due to go for a blood test tomorrow as they want to find out how much testosterone I have. So I'll probably get a better indication on whether this could be the cause when I get the results from that.

So hopefully if it turns out this is the cause, I might still be able to bf anymore babies I may have if I can get the balance of hormones right. What do you think? Are there any other ladies out there who have pcos and have struggled with supply or anyone that has pcos and has been very successful with bf?

:)

Tapatalking :)

Heya hun,

I have no advice I am afraid but there is a brilliant group on FB called 'dispelling BFing myths'. If you don't get a response on PF you could always post on there as has BFing support workers (I am one but new to the game!) xx

Ah I didn't know this. If it's true it might explain my crappy supply :p

Thanks Karate Kid I'll have a look :)

MelissaLindley take a look at the link to the article there are tips on how to increase your supply with pcos on there :)

In a way I kinda hope this is the cause, because then I'll have a reason. It kinda feels like a weight has been lifted having an answer iykwim. And it also gives me hope on being able to bf in the future :)

Oh Also 'Kelly mom' do some brilliant BFing articles online. Hope you fins a solution xx
