Paternity Pay

My OH is pondering on leaving his badly paid job... which is PAYE.
BUT... if he goes to the new job he has in mind... this is self employed.

Does that mean that he will not get paid any Paternity Pay.. or is there a government benefit at all? Anyone know?

On my emplyment terms of service, a man has to have 26 weeks continuous serivce at the 15th week EWC.
I'm guessing that it is the same as SMP for a woman.

From what I know of it also its only a couple of weeks worth.
