At my 12 week scan they said I had a cyst on one of my ovaries but was nothing to worry and quite common and should disperse on its own, so wasn't too concerned. But since no one else ive spoken to has had some thing which makes it seem not as common as she made out
Has anyone else had this? Did it just go on its own?

I had one in my last pregnancy - if it's the same thing it's called a corpus luteum cyst and is formed when the egg is released - so they can tell which ovary your egg came from (weirdly mine came from the side where I have no fallopian tube!) Anyway, it's nothing to worry about and quite common xxx

I had a bleed so had an emergency scan at about 7 weeks. The doctor said he could see a cyst. He said out of 100 women scanned 25 would have a cyst. When I went for my 12 week scan it could not be seen. My midwife said they were common and not a cause for concern. Hope this helps.

Yes i had one at my 12 week scan measuring around 6cm in diametre, they said it was common to me too and by the time i had my 20 week scan it was gone!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I have heard a lot of people mention them in pregnancy and my midwife said that we all actually get them time to time during our normal menstrual cycles when we are not pregnant so i'm sure it nothing to worry about.

Have they marked it down on your notes so that at your next scan they can check it for you?

I had overstimulated ovaries with 2 cysts on each as have pcos and had IVF injections. When they were first measured at 6 weeks they were 71mm on each ovary, then down to 45mm at 10 week scan. Don't know what they are now but assume they are nearly back to normal. I was told not to worry as it's common, not that they can do much about it anyway  .

Thanks everyone feel beter knowing they are as common as she said, she took a picture of it and measurements which she kept but it isn't mentioned in the notes that went in my maternity notes she told me to make sure it was checked for at 20 week scan, hopefully it will be gone by then!!

I had one that showed up on my 12 week scan, it had gone by 20 weeks. I got a bit of a fright when it was mentioned but was told its very common!
