Hi,
This is my first month properly tracking BBT and doing OPKs. I’ve tested every day from CD8 until now at CD15 as I ovulated early last month (I think). All of my test results have been negative so far and I’ve been disheartened but still DTD just in case. Today I tested and got another negative but then I decided to look back at previous tests in my bin and saw faint positives / positives on them which I’d not seen before... how long do you usually wait before checking the test? I thought it was instant but it seems I may have missed my O day...

Thanks!

On one step it says allow 10 minutes for full reaction. My positive took a good few mins to show properly x

Put a timer on your phone, that is what I do. One step instructions says 10 minutes.

Oh no! I’ve been waiting a full 30 seconds for the colour to go up the strip. I didn’t even realise or think you had to wait. No wonder I’ve been getting so many negatives! Annoyed at myself but relieved at the same time because it looks like I ovulated Thursday/Friday and so I’m now around 2/3 DPO. Thanks ladies for your help

Easy mistake to expect it to be instant, good luck! X

Yeah you expect them to be like pregnancy tests don't you! It's so confusing sometimes. But they say that you can read them up to 10mins to get a definite negative. I always leave mine 10 mins before reading :) and I keep them too, so I can line them up and compare, it's easier to see the progression then. This is this month's, which will now go in the bin coz I'm fairly sure my surge is reducing.

I set a timer on my watch for the 10 min mark as i use one step and i just leave it on the side in the bathroom until my timer buzzes then i go back in to check them but I havent found positive yet but Ive changed the time I do them now

Thanks guys. I kept mine but did not put the date or timing on them because I thought they were all negative straight away - silly me! If we don’t get pregnant this month (fx I do) then I’ll def be keeping them, timing them right and putting the date/time on them.

Thanks!

I feel all over the place this month... got the timings of my OPKs wrong so not sure if I’ve ovulated but according to BBT I’ve not. On CD13 I woke after a restless nights sleep and then I had a few glasses of wine so CD14 my temp spiked but I put this down to the alcohol. Since then my temp has gone way back down. I was hoping for my spike and 3 day rise in temps but it’s not happened. My OPKs are negative too. Does this mean I’ve not ovulated yet? I’m on CD17 now but I did have a MC last month so I’m worried I’m not ovulating this month because of that. I’m so confused :-(

You might be a little late this month. I normally ovulate around cd 14/15 and have a 28 day cycle but the month after my mc I didn’t ovulate until cd 18 and it was a 31 day cycle.

I would think it’s completely normal as remember it would take your body a little while to clear the pregnancy hormones and get back on track.

Thanks Vespa. I seemed to get some slightly darker lines on my OPKs around Thursday/Friday but I only saw them on Sunday because I didn’t do the timings right so I thought I’d just missed my o day... seems I didn’t. Should be pleased in a way and I’m sure OH will be pleased too as it means more BD haha. I am just counting down to when AF is due and I know I won’t be able to resist to test on CD28 as I’m usually a regular 28 day cycle woman.

Thanks for your help and advice!

We were advised to skip the cycle after the mc but I think that was mostly due to them not being able to time it properly if I had have fallen pregnant. I really regret not trying that cycle too now so best of luck to you!

Did you not take the tests out the bin? I thought you got a positive on the Friday?

Sorry, just seen the other post. Do you have enough tests to carry on testing now? If your temping is suggestive of not Ov'ing then there will still be chance of catching an egg. DTD every 2 days or so and you'll be in with a good chance of catching.

Good luck hun xxx

Yes I did take the test out of the bin but I’m not sure if it was from Thursday or Friday. I’ll take a pic when I get home and post it. It had a 2nd line but it wasn’t a positive I don’t think because the test line was not as strong a line as the other. My bbt also isn’t suggesting I’ve ovulated because my temp hasn’t stayed high... frustrating and confusing...

Vespa I’ve not had any advice about trying again the aftercare following a mc has been appalling. From what I’ve read online it does say to try to not to try the first month because they can’t work out timings as well but I thought sod it! I’m pretty sure they can work it out once I get pregnant and have a scan haha so fx

Wish I’d thought the same at the time but as my partner was with me in the hospital, he got the spiel from the doctor too so I don’t think he’d have let me try that month anyway!

I’m sorry your aftercare has been so crap.

I’m actually considering writing a letter of complaint it’s been that bad. I’ve had no letters, no follow up or anything. For all they know I could have been trying for years and be suicidal right now but thank god I’m not but others could be...

Yes, there is no aftercare for MC in the UK really. After sepsis and a d&e I didn't see a doctor at all. I woke up after the op and only saw nurses. I was discharged with meds and not a peep about when to try again or what to do next. Seems to be the way unfortunately xx

Ok so here are the tests that I can identify the dates of, the others I have stuck in the bin and they’re in all sorts of randomness... I did a random accu larger ovulation text on 10th because I saw a spike and thought I was ovulating but the line still doesn’t seem as dark as the control line... my OPKS alone I’d have assumed I ovulated but with my BBT chart I don’t think I have... any ideas?
