Ok, so i'm 90% sure i'm pregnant... and the father's Irish, has an uncle Paddy who he was really very close too and he died... but i've always loved the name Paddy.

So, if i'm having a little boy... I'd like to name him Paddy James McDonald :)

I haven't spoke to the dad yet though... worried how he'll react. I just know that's the name for my lil one... it fits.

If it's a girl, i'd like Emily Sapphire. No specific reason, I just love it :)

What do you guys think?
x

Paddy is a nickname isn't it? We call my OHs stepmum 'Paddy' because she is Irish...

Love the name Emily though

not to keen sorry i like the name emily but at the end of the day its what u like

Ditto what has been said, to me Paddy is a nickname for someone. I don't really see it as a 'name' per se. Maybe Patrick?

Like Emily a lot :)

Paddy is indeed a derivative of Patrick, but I think its fine to use it as a name in its own right. That's what's happened with lots of names where people don't like the full name so use the shortened version.

If you like it I reckon you should go for it.

My dh is Irish. They have 5 Patrick's in the family and they all get called Paddy. My little girl calls her grand-dad 'Paddy the paddy'. xx

I think it is totally up to you and if you like it, then go for it!! :D
My SIL has a son named Judd, they named him after the dads uncle who is called George but nicknamed Judd!

I once worked with someone with a daughter named Paddy so it has been used other than a nickname - I like it :)
