What do you think of it? I think it's beautiful and could be Lia for short. Don't think DH is very keen on it though.

I do love this name but it is getting quite popular round here, plus with the surname my kids have, a complicated first name would be too much :( But I do love it so much

Ah is it! I didn't realise. It is beautiful. I need to find a name that is Greek related but doesn't stand out too much as different in England - so that both side of my family can say it!

I started loving the name from Pans Labrynth! x

I don't think it is that popular overall in the UK, I have just met three in the last few months

Oh I thought you meant round here as in on the forum - do you mean where you live?

yeah where I live. I know reshoes has an Ophelia

Sophie is of Greek descent and wouldn't be hard for family to get their tongues around. It is a very common name though. That is our name for if we ever have a girl.

There is loads on here http://www.babynamesorigins.com/greekgirls.html

I love Sophia but it's my uncles ex wife's name so I doubt it would go down too well :rotfl:
Thanks for the link!

i love it, i first heard it in a shakespearean play, cant remember which but the character was very beautiful!

I really like this name. I personally find it beautiful and unusual without it being too unusual.I salute your choice!

I love Ophelia, think its a lovely name. You'llhave to tell OH he has been outnumbered :rotfl:

He's not budging so far!! argh! I really like it too. I do love Lydia though x

I like the name Ophielia also,,,how about the name Damaris (pronouced Dam-a-ris),it is greek and means Gentle??

My Matilda was very nearly Ophelia, in fact the 1st texts the OH sent introduced her to Ophelia subject to confirmation! I just decided she just didnt look like an Ophelia when I got to see her the day after she was born
