Unsure if this is the right place to put this or in another section?

Baby Hayden is currently on 4oz every 3hours or so (every 4hrs in the night) Last night wasn't his best night he normally only goes with 1 feed in the night and thats roughly between 3-4am so he was a bit crotchety...

Anyhow this morning I fed him at 8:30am fine he had about 3oz out of the 4oz. But after that it was very touch and go... I bathed him, dressed and tried to feed at then 3-4hrs later and the following feed he only had 1oz BOTH times consecutivly I thought at least the second time he mioght of taken more...

He just doesn't seem hungry today, I don';t want to force him but I don;t want him to starve either. is it because he's been so moody???

The other question is we put him on the 4oz a little while ago but hes only drinking 3oz on more occasions then 4oz? There are times he has the 4 but only sometimes... Should I go back to 3oz or stick with 4oz ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I hope this all makes sense to anyone reading cause im baffled lol!!

On a good note Hayden is 10lbs now yah!!!

Just keep trying him with the milk and if he wants it then he will take it, if he does get hungry im sure he will let you know.

I would still make up 4oz or you could make 3 1/2 oz as like you say there are times when he takes the full 4oz.

We have a similar situation with Dylan. He takes between 4-6oz every 3 hours (5 hours in the night). Because i never know how much he is actually going to feed i still make his bottles up to 6. Id rather do more than less and have to make him the extra couple of ounces while he is still hungry. It is a terrible waste of formula though and it's expensive enough as well.

how long does it take him to feed? i only ask as due to Macey having problems with getting her wind up, it can take 1-1 and a half hours for her to finish it but she will finish it she has 4-5 oz usually although if she doesnt get any wind up she will sometimes only have 2,

I have to keep trying, winding, trying again etc, she hasnt lost any weight so far even with the differences in feeds, unless he is dropping weight i wouldnt worry too much

Dont worry hun this is sooooo common they change every week and there was a stage when i wasted so much milk with kyran. when he started drinking less, instead of feeding him on the dot every 3 hours i let him tell me when he was hungry. sometimes it would be 3 hours sometimes it would be 5. He'd start sucking his fingers like mad when he wanted a bottle so thats when i made it. he's pretty much always drank the given amount then.

at 6months old he was only drinking 5oz per feed and still now at 9months i only make him 6oz. Ignore the guidelines on the back they just make you panic and think thats what your baby should drink but it fails to mention every child is different

On the other side he might just be going through a phase. i wouldnt be surprised if next week he wants 5oz every 3 hours then the week after back to 3oz. they change constantly so i really wouldnt worry. My son still does it now, he wouldnt drink his bottle for bed tonight so i no he's going to wake in the night now but he was having none of it. stubborn like his mother!

Ditto with the long feed, it drives me mad sitting there for ages battling with a squirming baby who really isn't that hungry then having to throw bottle away as been out too long :wall: .

I have been worried about this and done a couple of posts but I just go with it now and I'm sure next week will be a totally different problem
