I was given it by my GP a few weeks so it's perfectly safe xx

Yep, I'm back on omeprazole. I checked with midwife at 9 weeks and she said it was no problem. She did however say, that all pills should be avoided during tri 1 and if I could avoid taking it until tri 2, even better

Tri hopping here... i was prescribed it last week due to having bad heartburn... im 25 weeks. Its 100% safe. Id ring up and asked to be put back on it as it was helping and now youve stopped it its back worse than ever xx

actually omeprazole and renitidine are not tested on pregnant women. There are no studies to suggest it's safe to take whilr pregnant. No drug is 100% safe - all have side effects etc

However - lots of pregnant women take it ( I was on renitidine ) and have no effects on their baby. However I believe my sons terrible reflux - resulting in omeprazole since very young is linked to my heartburn and tablet taking during pregancy

I'm pregnant again and have avoided all tablets and will continue with diet management and gaviscon :)

If it wasnt safe to take while pregnant no doctor would prescribe it. Anything that hasnt been tested on pregnant women state on the pack not suitable while pregnant. Every woman is different so if you start to take it and have side effect obviously stop, but of course you need to let your doctor know your pregnant before taking any medicine.

I had ranitidine before omep. And it didnt do anything for me :(

I cant imagine itd have anything to do with that surely? I thought it was something too do with the valve at the top of the stomach not being formed properly or working properly. They say most babies are born with it but grow out of it. I was like that myself when i was a baby and finally at 5 i had to have a massive op to fix it.

With my 1st son i took gaviscon and i still carry a bottle in my bag cause i need it.... 4 years on :( its bloody awful!

It's unregulated
Omeprazole and renitidine in infants too are unregulated.

The NHS 'believe' it's safe during pregnant but like I say and they say no medication is 100% safe when pregnant and slot of
Medicines are not tested on pregnant women for the safety of the unborn child.

There are some very good articles on anti acids and their usage while pregnant - I know all this because I'm a research a holic and read a lot to do with pretty much everything associated with my pregnancy with my son! :)

They say babies outgrown it but my son has had 2 dosage increases and without his omeprazole is very sickly and he's 15 months now

They said it would get better with weaning and it didn't - then he will outgrow it when he's 1 and he hasn't

Awk god love him :( cant be easy for you either. All i can say is keep pushing and pushing. If my mum hadnt of when she did i wouldnt have been with them 6 months later! My stomach was moving up towards my chest!
My son has bother with a continuous cough. He cant get too excited/ hysterically cry or he starts to cough and violently vomits! We have been fobbed of so many times with inhaler after inhaler but finally after loosing the plot with them i got referred to a specialist last month who gave us 2 types of meds which so far is working! Hope you get some answers soon xx

It's just horrid! Any reflux adult or child! We are also exploring milk allergies atm aswell :( cows
Milk from formula has failed twice - yoghurt ok - cheese caused issues last night...
