...now im unsure what to do. After my disappointing visit to the doctors we decided we were going to wait it out till my dating scan but now OH changed his mind and im unsure what to do.
If we decided that we were going to have an early scan i have two options
1) go back to the docs but that would probally mean arguing with them!
2) book a private scan at a different place than my last one.
Just the thought of it is giving me butterflies! I really cant decide what to do! x x

I would try the dr again ask to see another dr! I don't think u should have to pay

Try the doctor again, tell them the worry is really affecting you, I guess best to try it this way first.

Im in too minds to go and see the doc as i have been thinking about it and when i had my mmc they couldnt fit me in for a scan due to so many people having scans that day so i went private.
Mine isnt an emergancy so would i be stopping someone who could be going through what i went through having a scan? If that makes sense x x

Hey hun, thats tricky, what did the doc say when you asked him first time? must have missed that thread. If you have the money and it really worrying you i would go for the private scan and save all the streess of arguing. You should be able to get an early scan, i was told i would def get one and not to bother with GP, phone them direct. Is this something you could try?

I got told by the hospital after my mmc that next time i was pregnant i would be referred to the epu but when i went to see the doctor she refused. The hospital had obviously said this to stop me making a complaint! The epu wont see you unless the doctors has referred you.
Im not very worried hunny, OH just thinks it would be nice to know everythings ok, thats why i feel i would be taking an emergancy spot up x x

I see, i do see what you mean. If you can afford it maybe go for a private one, to put your minds at rest. I'm sure everything will be just fine though hun, I dont think i would be able to make it to 12 weeks without knowing. Can't believe that the hospital lied to you like that.

We dont have an EPU, just consultant led maternity unit.

I was fuming on friday when I realised what they had done! If i could bring myself to bring it all up again id complain but i think it would just upset me again!
Think ill look up some private clinics today as i dont want to go back to the same one as last time, im sure that will make my mind up for me! Hows you this morning hunny? x x

Good hun, cheapies are getting darker so getting there slowly, just wish it would hurry up and pass wed as thats when AF due.

I know what you mean about bringing it up again would upset you, best to keep things stress free. I had to make a complaint about the consultant i had last time, the made and investigation and i got a few letters of apology, it helped me close a door on it all. My MIL works in maternity with that consultant and told me he has improved his manner so i guess thats a small victory. there is only 2 consultants who work there so i will HAVE to get the other one this time, but she is very nice.

Hope you find a private clinic at a reasonable price. we dont have any private clinics here (i know i live in the middle of no where, haha)

have you considered calling the epu and asking them directly, just explain whats going on and what you were told last time and try that? you might find they tell you to come on in for a scan?

Can you ask your midwife? They generally work very closely with EPU and may get your scan bypassing the doctor....

The only other thing you could do hon is have a word with your midwife at your booking in appointment (providing you see her before you want to have the early scan) if not shop around and see what you can find in way of private clinics. The first one I contacted charged £149!!! But that was for a consultation as well. We then settled on one costing £99 still a lot of money but well worth it to put your mind at rest until 12 weeks x x

Thanks for you replies ladies, i havent been allocated a midwife yet so im still under doctors care and im fighting a losing battle with them!
Ive just found a private clinic that was highly recommended on another site and its only £65, im going to give them a call on my lunch, it says on there site they will see you from 8 weeks x x

£65 sounds reasonable hon and if they'll see you at 8 weeks means you only have 3 weeks to wait x x

Ive booked it ladies eeekkk. My appointment is 21st March at 5.30pm.
What a weekend that will be, on the friday it a day full of shopping and off to see westlife with my little sister, on the saturday we are having a day out, on Sunday its my bday and now on the monday i have my scan! x x
