last night i was cleaning the kitchen and just happened to notice my mobile phone floating in the kitchen sink. :(
I took the battery out and dried it best i could and stuck it in the airing cupboard over night to dry out. This morning i checked to see if it worked but it doesn't.

has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? Im not sure how long the phone had been in there (it had slipped in off some place mats)
so im not sure how much damage was done.

its insured but i can't be doing with al the hassle of stopping in for a new one. if i can get it working i would rather... any tips

My husband's family were forever dropping their mobiles in the canal and they sometimes worked after drying them out thoroughly!

yeah i hope so. its back in the airing cupboard now. ill give it till monday then ill take a trip to orange and see if they can give me a new one (well reconditioned one)

They might send it away to try and fix it and if it doesn't work you might end up with a new one anyway. My bro had just taken his back to Vodafone and they sent it away and gave him a replacement for the time being. they couldn't get it working so they got him a new one - unfortunately they'd given him the battery and battery cover back so he has a brand new phone with a rubbishy battery and scratched back cover!!! :rotfl:

its so crap. you pay £5 insurance a mnoth just to get a reconditioned phone if yours breaks etc. And like you said you have to use the same battery.
Im due a renewal on my contract in december and im not going to pay for the insurance again. its just not worth iot.

does it open?

cause u could use a hairdryer on it

i was going to try that - should i? it does open.

i spilt half a bottle of wine on my phone once, it didnt work after
drying it out, but i tried it again out of interest a few months
later and it worked again...might need some more drying!
but then again i got thrown in a swimming pool with another phone
in my pocket..never worked again!

you don't need to go in, just give orange a phone and they should send you a new one, I am a firm beleiver in doing these things on the phone so that I don't have to leave the comfort of my sofa!!
