Sorry girls but I need a rant!! I went around to see my mum this morning and over the last couple of weeks I have piled on the weight - bump has popped but I know I've put fatty weight on too. And to be honest it's making me feel a bit shit about myself. Anyway I mentioned this to my mum and she said 'yes, barrage balloon springs to mind!!" It really upset me and I left pretty quickly. I don't know whether to scream or cry ....................

No, rant away!
Its upsetting when you're pregnant, emotional, questioning your looks and then someone turns around & insults you. Let alone if its your own mother.
I have a mother who has a tendency to let things slip quite quickly when it comes to remarking on detrimental changes in my appearance. Ironically, she also seems to be the one who is most surprised when I let slip remarks that indicate how low my self esteem is!
The fact is that we all put on weight, to varying degrees, but what is happening inside your body at the moment is the most glorious piece of magic and the resulting baby will be worth every pound and stretch mark and you've gained and more!
Have a good cry and get it out, you might feel irrational for a bit, but ultimately that release will make you feel a bit better. Take care. xx

Oh hun, everyone seems to have an opinion on everything you do when you are pregnant.... for example the guy I sit next to at work thinks I eat wayyy to much atm and is very vocal about it, I don't think he realises that it is upsetting.

Hormones are all over the place and your body is no longer your own so I don't blame you for being upset.

I know she is you mum but just ignore the comment as you are doing the best you can.

Listen to Fordee!! This whole process is magical

Big Hug x

Sorry to hear that. I think family members think that they are being funny when actually its quite hurtful. I think most of us are sensitive about the changes that are taking place to our bodies and therefore comments like that are so unhelpful. My SIL is the same, she goes on and on and on about how big my bump and am I sure there is only one in there my FIL calls me a blowfish and that I really dont need to eat that much blah blah blah.

I just smile nicely and say yes, yes but I'll be the one with a beautiful LO.

xx

A lady at work came up to me the other day from behind and said "wow, you've really expanded across the back!', then she smacked my arse (!) and told me it was now massive!! Lucky for her I'm not someone to get upset about these things!! Everyone else thinks I'm all bump, but clearly not!!
Don't worry what others say...everyone thinks they have a right to an opinion when you're pregnant. We are all going to put on weight but can lose it after xx

I friggin hate people saying 'are u sure there's only one in there?' Like 'no I'm actually completely thick and have no idea'
Jeez, we've had scans, we know how many we're carrying so just EFF OFF!!

My best friend annoyed me the other night, I hadn't seen her in 2wks and my bump had gotten bigger, and she was making a scene in the coffee shop over it. I was like 'ok calm down, you knew I was pregnant so u should have expected a bump!' Then she said 'maybe ur having twins' and I said 'well even you've seen my scan pic, did it look like twins?!' Then she was like 'ur gonna have a huge baby, omg how r u gona cope?'
I was like 'its measuring at the correct size for how many weeks it is, its not a giant!'
Really pissed me off!

I think people think they can say what they want to pregnant women and skinny women. If ur pregnant its 'omg ur huge' and if someone thinks ur thin, they just come out and tell u! How is that acceptable when u can't tell a fat person they're fat?!

Wow, massive rant lol. I'm done now lol x

LOOOL!!

I think a some of it is envy, not nice to say but I think those who've had a baby realise what a special time it is and miss it a tad and those that haven't probably see the attention.

JayJay you have a very neat bump and you know your not huge so ignore your friend - properly laughed at your comment 'you knew I was expecting so you should have expected a bump'- now who's the thick one eh?!

xx

Tehehee!

Jayjay- your tiny and you have nothing to owrry about!!

One of my collegues came up to me whilst I was having lunch and said 'You do know you only need 200 extra calories don't you?' Mind you I was only eating a sandwich and had a yoghurt sitting on my desk.

I nearly flipped out.... wanted to screm....200 calories?! Try reminding yourself that when you are starving 10 minutes after you have eaten!

I just smiled and said 'Just you wait until you go through pregnancy'

To which she replied 'Oh I know I won't let myself go, I am in full control of my eating habits.... if you were fitter you would still be able to go to the gym too'.

Needless to say I almost punched her.... ended up crying in the toilets insted.

Case in point.... if you have not gone through it, I don't think you should voice your opinion.... have an opinion by all means but if it's not nice, keep it to yourself!

Rant over! xx

My mum walks in the house and says hello fatty, I have just got used to it now :) to start off with it used to really piss me off, now I ignore her and take it with a pinch of salt, at the end of the day we are growing a human being we can;t be perfect :)

Hope you busted some of your blackbelt moves on her.... I think you should keep your belt on your desk, remind some of your work colleagues not to mess.

ha ha!! I dare you to go into your next meeting with your boss and just start twiddling it when he starts banging on about maternity again.

xx

Hi girls. I want to join and and also rant about this!!!! The other day a woman at work actually said it was a good thing I have been so sick with this pregnancy cos if not I'd be really huge by now!! How flipping rude can you get!! I would never dream on commenting on someone's weight ever, never mind when they are pregnant!! I feel like every time I reach in the biscuit tin at work someone makes a comment about eating for two!!!!

I'm not surprised your mum upset you him, oh and karate kid, I would have flipped at that woman. What a bitch!!!

Hugs girls. We are all going to be very yummy mummies, everyone can get lost with their comments!!

Completely agree with you Spammy. I'm surprised you didn't slap that woman at work!! Thats a terrible thing to say.

Yes, we will be yummy mummies - they can get stuffed.
