I just wondered when you are all seeing the obsetrician? (sp?)

It's just that my MW mentioned going to see one... But my mum said when she was pregnant with us 3 she saw him at around 22 weeks...

xx

hi, i didnt have to see one in my first pg, but did in my 2nd as they classed me as being high risk as my first was breech and i had to have an emergency ceasrean under anthestic e.g. i was put to sleep as too late for epidural, when i saw him all he did was arrange a scan for when i would have been 37 weeks to see what postion lo was in and they were gonna then go from there, as it happens i went into labour 2days before i was due for the scan, lo was fine. so i wouldnt worry too much hun.

Never seen one either, didn't think you did unless you were at risk

I didn't see anyone BUT an OB!

I think I saw a M/W about 3 times through my whole pregnancy!

I'd much rather have been like you and not needed one!

xxx

It has not been mentioned to me yet, do you think it may have something to do with your uterus being in a different position Dannii? (Apologies if that isn't you   )

Yeah that is me lol. That's what I assumed, but my MW isn't very good and doesn't explain anything so I'm left with more questions than when I first went in!!

I just thought everyone had to go and see one? Maybe not... I'm seeing her next week so will have a chat with her then! xx

I was under the impression that you only saw the midwife. They would refer you if there was problem.

I'll be having baby in a birthing centre and they are midwife run so shouldn't need to see anyone else.

I've seen one a couple of times the last few weeks but that was for monitoring etc outside of normal pregnancy practices.

My understanding is you only see the MW unless there are problems that require referring you to see a Registrar or Consultant which your MW can do.

Nope, no1s mentioned it to me either, maybe next time you go to see her get some concrete facts on when you need to have seen him by ?

At my first midwife visit, she asked if I wanted midwife only, combined midwife and obstetrician or obstetrician only appointments. I opted for midwife only as I thought that would be best. It turns out that I am now having several obstetrician appointments along with scans as I have a rather large fibroid that they want to monitor. The first obs appointment at my 20 wk scan and then it was decided that I should have scans at 28 and 34 weeks with obs appointments. Otherwise, I would have only midwife appointments.
