I've read alot on here about some of you having problems getting LO to breast feed after they've had the luxury of a formula feed, but I seem to have the opposite problem now.

I was topping up Connor with formula every so often or letting OH giving him an occasional night time bottle to give me a break and we seemed to be doing fine. However in the last week or so he has kicked up a merry fuss with the formula and we don't know why! He gets tetchy and moody totally refusing bottles and won't settle until he GETS my breast in the end, and then falls asleep on my breast in a state.

I changed the bottle teats to a medium flow thinking that maybe he was getting frustrated with the flow but it wasn't that. I don't want to give up breastfeeding at all, I just want to combine the two as we travel between two homes quite a bit and its handy to have some formula for the road! We were using SMA gold which he wasn't ever all that keen on but he would take it sometimes, and I've got some aptimil to try now, (any opinions on that?). Though i feel its not the formula at all but some type of emotional attachment maybe???

I know he is teething now too so i'm thinking perhaps he is wanting the comfort of the breast alot more because of this?

Any ideas ladies?

Hiya hun,

what bottles are you using?

I was trying the TT closer to nature ones as I thought they were the best when combining breast and formula. But after weeks of Ash kicking up a fuss at every bottle feed and demanding breast, I tried good old Avent bog standard bottles and, bingo! He now takes the bottle.

I dont know a lot about formula as we are just bfing at the moment but my friend said all her Mummy friends have found Cow and Gate goes down better than other formulas. Dont know what others on here think?

Lil miss never really took to formula when she was in SCBU... It tastes different, its not as sweet as boob milk...made me feel good that... :) but she also won't take ebm from anyone but me without kicking up a huge fuss... thats definitely a comfort thing... :(

Ive been using Avent, but I really do think its a comfort thing more than the milk thing, although Squig is right the Breast milk is probably more tasty for them, hence the fuss.
