I am planning on having a form of free birth, therefore I am not and will not be registering with an NHS midwife...This means that I also won't have any notes and in my letter it says I MUST have my notes with me.

Does anyone know if they can refuse me the right to prenatal care due to the fact i'm not registering with an NHS midwife?

I can pay privately for my scans and health checks although my initial thought is the cost because I've miscarried so many times it would be sensible to have the early ones with the NHS?

why not register with them and then just choose the scans and appointments you want? I'm pretty sure you can decline whatever you wish to and still choose the birth route you would like.

I don't think you can get scans or tests on the nhs without being registered.

I could do this...I just hate the pressure they put on ...Do you think if i register with a midwife and decline any and all care from them that they will still refer me for a scan?

yes, I was told at booking in all appointments/scans could be declined if I wished but that was what was recommended.

I've been in touch with an amazing doula who has given me so many answers already! Even if you're planning a hospital birth I'd recommend her page! She's called 'chilled mama' on Facebook and she's a wealth of information.
thank you everyone for your replies x
