Hello Ladies,

I wondered if anyone can help me
I am planning to take 9 months maternity leave which consists of 13 weeks full pay 13 weeks half pay and 13 weeks SMP
I have been through all my documents and I can not see that it states anywhere if I decide not to return for any reason how long notice I should give and if I would be liable for paying anything back
I do know that I will accrue holidays from January next year and would be returning in may after maternity all being well
Can anyone please give me any advice?
thank you x

The notice period is the same as in what it states in your contract ie the same as if you were still going to work. You only have to repay OMP if you get it, not SMP.

As Vikki says, you don't have to pay back stat. maternity pay, anything you get additionally under your contract is only required to be paid back if your contract/handbook explicitly says so. Hope this helps x

Thank you
Well I have been through my hand book and contract and can't see it states anywhere that it has to be paid back
Might have to be a question for the HR department a hypothetical question of course x

You have every right to ask the questions to HR, without it being what you wish to do , if you don't know the answers then how can you make a desision, ask them , and then you will not worry as much , all my info was in the maternity policy online with our internal website at work

good luck
