For the first time in almost 25 weeks, Luke lost weight lol

Only 1oz and HV thinks it is because he is non stop. I'm not and she's not at all worried and said we may see a decline or see him stay the same for a bit now.

He will get his first taste of food in 11 days! :cheer:

I am getting Calleigh weighed on thurs and was saying to OH last night how i dont feel she has seemed to have gained anything, but like your luke when she is awake she is constantly moving. Her legs are non stop and she is always playing with something.
Well we will see :)

Not long now till he has his first taste of food

Thats bril that you've got such a supportive hv, a lot would be telling you to give formula or wean. :cheer: :cheer:

We see any 1 of 3 HV's each week when we go but the one I saw this week was the one that came out to the house around week 4 when I was having MAJOR problems with breastfeeding and she turned everything around for us. She was really happy with Luke and seemed proud at my achievements considering she knew what an awful time I had :D

Do you get him weighed every week?? aw thats good that you have a supportive hv!!

Hey Debbie,

My DD was also exclusively breastfed and was EXACTLY the same at 6 months - she was 14lbs 2oz (I think) then went down to 14lb 1oz then we started weaning at 6 months and she was still slow to gain weight - but was always happy and healthy.

An ounce or two loss is really nothing to worry about - its just that their weight gain tails off so much and they are so much more active.

I'm so glad you had this support. The problem seems to be the lack of it, as so many hv (including ones i've seen with my other children) are too quick to say "wean, bottle feed, not putting on enough weight" etc.

Finn lost weight over 10 days between weighs recently but it didn't surprise me as he'd had some pretty gross nappies 3 or 4 times a day from teething.

Good to hear he is doing well :) Glad you've a good bunch of HV's there.

My HV advised me to not have Galen weighed every week once he hit 10 weeks as she said weight gain then can slow down etc and it usually caused more worry for Mum weighing weekly as babies tend to tail off and its not all about the centile chart (Galen was on the 91st centile at birth and now loiters around the 75th). So we only weigh every 2 weeks now. His weight gain continues well and last week weighed in at 16lb 9ozs. She said the higher centiles often had a more noticable weight tail off so maybe this is why she advised us to do this.

Luke's only around 25-30th on his chart and always has been. Never worried about his weight and we're not now. Just thought it was funny really that he is now so active he isn't gaining weight. He really is non stop. Nightmare LOL
