Not lactating

I am a bit worried as I haven't been lactating, I haven't had anything from my nipples. They are slightly tender but nothing compared to how books and the girls on here have described painful nipples/breasts. Could there be a problem? I really want to give breastfeeding a try when Aimee is born.

I never leaked until right at the end, and even then it was the tiniest amount. I was able to breastfeed fine You have nothing to worry about, hun

I never leaked at all. iv'e sucessfully breastfed for 8 months.

So it doesn't make any difference at all.

I wouldn't worry - some women don't leak at all. Have you tried squeezing them though? For the first time the other day I was in the bath and gave them a squeeze and if you looked really close the tiniest amount of milky/yellow fluid emerged. It only happens in the bath though. So, try a warm bath and a squeeze!

ive only had a leaky boob once and even then it was clear and not atlot. sometimes even when i squeze them nothing comes out. i was getting worried i wouldnt be able to BF but by the sounds of it we will be fine!

I'm the same i haven't leaked or anything but yesterday i had a tiny bit of yellow fluid when i squeezed my nipples. I wouldn't worry our bodies know what they are doing xx

It's totally normal to not leak at all during pregnancy hun. Everyone is different. I leaked loads during my last pregnancy and didn't produce any milk so I wouldn't worry about not leaking because loads of people don't and it just pours in once the baby arrives

I didn't leak at all either - until I gave birth and then leaked solidly for the last 2.5 weeks

I didn't leak one single drop till after Galen was born.

MW said it was normal and that labour itself actually acts as a stimulant for the breastmilk and then latching after birth

Thanks for all the replies. The books just made out that I should be flowing like a fountain! They should put in them it doesn't happen for everyone and then you wouldn't have worried mummies-to-be!
