Really quick question. I was planning for my mat leave to start on the 2nd Jan - but at the beginning of the year i booked it off as holiday so i didn't have to work that week. Now ive been 'suggested' to start my mat leave on the 5th Jan and still take the 2nd jan of as holiday from next years entitlement (i get 25 days a year due to my years of service). If i do take the 2nd as holiday, and then decide not to go back, will i have to pay it back, or will i be entitled to an amount of holiday even if i don't go back.

Does that make sense? my brain is a tad frazzled today.

I think this is right... whilst you are on maternity leave you accrue holiday as normal as you are considered as still employed. As long as you dont take more than your holiday entitlement for the amount of time you are there then you wont have to pay it back.. ie for me i have 25 days hol which works out as around 2 days a month. If i took all 25 days and then left before the year is up then i would have to pay back the excess holiday..

No idea if that makes sense to you,
