hi

im new to all of this so need some advice

summer is a couple of days old and seems to be quite a bit sick after feeds, im worried that she brings most of her milk back up

i told the nurses in hosp and told the midwife today and they didnt seem worried

also she had a feed this mornin and just slept all day, again i told the midwife and she just said she was contended and she will settle down with feeds soon, she said she is happy and not in pain its just that everythings new

she woke every couple of hours in the night but has slept nearly all day

did anyone else experience similar with bottle fed newborn?

Usually it's just "possetting". Does she just bring back up a small amount a time after a feed? It always looks more than it is, especially with such a wee baby! As long as she's not bringing it up forcefully (you'd know, it goes out the way instead of dribbling!!) then it shouldn't be a problem. If she's got wet and dirty nappies (time between dirty ones varies in the first few days) then don't worry.

You can ease it a little by winding her gently halfway through a feed (so that air is brought up without milk on top of it), keeping her semi-upright during feeds and for a small time after and not jiggling her about too much following a feed (made this mistake a lot!).

My Becky has always done this and she's stayed on the same line for weight gain (75th centile) throughout so try not to worry and welcome home

The sleeping thing is VERY normal, she will be like that for a couple of weeks at least.

I think Harriet was about 8 weeks old when her sleeping changed from being asleep all day and awake all night :D

all normal becky unless of course summers sick isnt jus falling out of her mouth, Caiytln does it quite alot.

Caitlyn also woke up at the night more than she did in the day -was "back to front" all changed now - cant remember when that flipped but sometimes we can get away with 1 night feed, sometims its 2.

she'll straighten herself out soon.
