Hi all how is everyone?

I am new here so please bear with me,but I just wanted to see if anyone was in the same boat as me?

ive just had my 1st visit at fertility clinic today with the husband it wasn't as bad as I thought. I was told I have to get a number of tests being progesterone which has to be done on cd21, rubella and other tests then depending on the result I have to for an ultrasound.

So is anyone else in the same boat as me? how are others getting on? id love to here similar stories

Hi, glad your appointment went well. We have our first fertility appointment on 10th October, we know DH has a low count and morphology and the tests I've had so far have been fine, hope won't have to repeat the tests we've already have but we'll see. There are a few of us going down this road so you'll find plenty of buddies! X

Hello and welcome! Lets put the kettle on and get the biccies out :) We've had some tests at docs (day 3 and 21 bloods, these were borderline but within normal range, and 2 SA's, both of which showed low count and poor morphology). We've got our first appt at hospital fertility clinic a week on Tuesday, excited, nervous, anxious, just want to know what they will say!! Good that there's a few of us going through the same thing all together :) xx

Hi ladies,

thanks for your replies its comforting to know that there are a few people in the same boat as me, I have got to go the drs on cd21 for progesterone checks etc that is this thurs so what happens if that's too low what does that mean?:help:

Hello and welcome! The cd21 test is to see if you have ovulated - I believe (although obv check with your doctor) that your progesterone must be more than 30 to show you have definitely ovulated.

However. Lots of women do not have a regular 28 day cycle so doing it on cd21 is not necessarily right. Really it should be called 7 days before your period is due test! So if you normally have a 35 day cycle you'd actually get it done on cd28.

Hope that helps and fx for you!

Anna xoxo

Hey London girl well I think they are just sending me for that day anyway as my cycles are all over the place so I never have an exact cycle, so I think that's why the dr at the hospital said to go for day21 they may ask me to go again later how knows?

I was also just thinking if you :bd: last night is it possible to feel :preg:the next day?

right there with you. Oh and I had our first fertility appointment 2 weeks ago. I had had all bloods and swabs before and oh had two SAs (one low, one normal). Tomorrow I have an internal ultrasound - not looking forward to it - and after that they want to check my tubes (hopefully through the most un invasive method). They currently think I have pcos due to several long cycles this year. I haven't posted in a while but it's good hearing from someone in a similar position. I wish you luck with your journey x

hey there girlies,

Well just received :mail: and got a letter from the hospital ive got an appointment for an ultrasound next month I think this is called the HSG although it does just say uultrasound on the letter. so what happens after the ultrasound then? has anyone got any advice?

Ultrasound and hsg are different. Hsg is a dye put into your womb and tubes using a catheter and they xray to look for blockages etc. Ultrasound will be an internal one - affectionately referred to as dildo-cam by my bf who had her baby through ivf. Scan was fine - no discomfort although I have heard that hsg is rather uncomfortable. If you were going for hsg they would ask you to make appointment in first 14 days of your cycle so is probably an ultrasound. Worth ringing and checking. I am waiting for af so I can book hsg. I can't guarantee all my details are correct but hope you work out what you are having. Cclx

The way to tell will be what department the appt is with - an hsg will be in the x-ray dept, ultrasound probably gynaecology.

If you haven't had an ultrasound yet that usually is the first step to check your ovaries etc. you'll likely also have to have an hsg before starting any treatment. It's a painfully slow process I'm afraid - I first went to see my gp in feb and I still haven't started treatment :(

Good luck xoxo

Af arrived today but can't book hsg until Monday now. Not looking forward to it but will be glad to get it out of the way - small steps.
