I discovered I was pregnant ( wasnt trying) 2 weeks prior to starting a new job and new career, having just finished a degree. For reasons I was sent for early scan so I know that I was 10 weeks when I started the job. I haven't told them yet ( now 12 weeks but next scan not for 2 weeks) but I'm planning to tell them tomorrow. Im so worried about it, I know I'm not entitled to mat pay but will I get anything? I may have to return to work very quickly for financial reasOns. Also i'm not on a permanent contract (only a year one) but was more or less promised it would led to one now concerned this won't happen either. Aargh help.

I was 8 weeks when i stared my job and didnt tell them til i was 14 weeks so i had all scans etc.
I was entitled to the naternity package of so many full paid weeks and half paid weeks but after instead of getting smp by the employer i got maternty allowance by the government.
Its worth finding out what the hr will offer so can plan ahead x

I think it's one of those things where you just have to take it as it comes. Everything turns out alright in the end. Have a look at statutory maternity pay x
