Started my period super early at 9 DPO. :shakehead: I thought I did everything right last month, but apparently not. :wall2: I've only been trying for two months, but I just thought it would happen right away. I think what is concerning me is that my luteal phase is so short and I don't have a lot of CM when I get my LH surge.

I ordered Virtex and now am considering charting my temperature. I did use OPK tests last month and I liked them. I also am thinking about trying pre-seed as well. I feel so overwhelmed with all the options and have no idea where to start. I want to make sure I do everything right. I have a ton of questions.

Do you use pre-seed?
Pro's/Con's?

Do you chart your temperature?
What thermometer do you use?
What chart do you use? (Did you make your own or download one)
How do you know when you are ovulating by tracking your temperature?
Pro's/Con's?
Advice?

Do you use OPK tests?
Do you like them?
What brand do you use?

What vitamins do you take?
Do you take Primrose Oil? If so, do you take it all month?

Do you take Virtex?
If so, when do you take it?
How much do you take everyday?
Do you see any difference since taking it?

Any other tips/advice on how to get pregnant?

Thanks <3

I’ve been trying 15 months and been off the pill 3 years and I’ve tried all of the above and some and still hasn’t happened, been for all the tests and all normal. .. I read that 1.5 years is normal

I’ve tried pre seed, I used opks for past 15 months and now stopping as fed up. I temp.....I take folic acid, vit c, vit d, Zinc, evening primrose oil, omega 3, tried virtex , I’m now trying macca and dong quai ....

Tried drinking nettle tea and raspberry leaf.....and so much more I can’t remember
I’ve tried everything ..now trying acupuncture

Good luck !

We've used Preseed and conceive plus. Conceive plus had a weird smell to it and hubby hated it so we switched to preseed. I guess the pro is it's great if you are not really in the mood and want to hit fertile days. Cons cant really think of any!

I tried temping but I'm not a morning person so it didn't go well. My first read was far too low (maybe I did something wrong?) but yeah I didn't bother with it after a few days. I used the fertility friends app to enter the temperatures in that I did take. Cons for me were having to take it in the morning. Pros would have been it's a great way to check when you ovulated but it can't tell you when you need to dtd as when you get the temp dip it's too late I think?

^ the one I used.

I've always used the one step cheapie opks from Amazon/Ebay. They're usually good for working out when my next period is here. Don't seem to help me get pregnant. The time we did conceive I never got a positive opk. This month I've been trying out the clear blue digi adv. opks, I like them a lot but really expensive.

Vitamins sometimes pregnacare or Tescos his and hers conception. But for now I'm just on Folic acid, vit d and coq10. Giving my body a break. Evening primrose oil I gave up on a long time ago. It never made a difference to anything for me but when I took it it was only up til ovulation.

I have no idea what Virtex is.

And I wish I had tips so I didn't have to be in the ttc section anymore! :(

Thanks for replying! Sounds exhausting!! :( Never heard of Macca or Quai?

Has hubby had any tests done? How old are you?

I guess Virtex is used for those who have short cycles or a short luteal phase. I'm going to try it since I started my period at 9 DPO.

What does CoQ10 do?

I want to try the Clear Blue opk's too, but they are way too expensive. Can't imagine using them every month. :( Weird how you didn't get a positive OPK then month you conceived? How frustrating!

I think I would feel the same about doing the temperature tracking. I would probably forget that I need to do it first thing once waking up. I'm so spacey in the morning.

Good to know about Primrose oil and to stop using after positive OT. I've been taking it everyday. :( They say to increase to 3,000 mg if you haven't seen changes in CM...What omega 3 do you take?

Ah okay! I've probably read about it somewhere and knew it wasn't for me I guess.

Coq10 is meant to help with egg quality. I feel for sure it makes a difference as I had 2 ivf cycles one with and one without. The cycle without I had bad quality eggs and only 1 fertilised but with it I got 12 eggs and 6 fertilised. It can be expensive but I think it's worthwhile.

I hoped to use the clear blue opks over 2 or 3 months but I used 8 before I got my static smiley today on cd16. My own fault for testing early though! I have no idea what happened the cycle I didn't get one, I used cheapies everyday as normal and just never went positive so a bit of a shock when my period didn't show and I got positive pregnancy test.

I had the thermometer right by my bedside but still couldn't be bothered with it first thing. Don't know how people do it lol.

Yes you shouldn't take EPO after ovulation. Not taking any omega 3 right now, tried it a long time ago now!

So helpful, thank you! Yea I wouldn't take Vitex since you are doing IVF. They don't recommend it.

Hang in there and good luck to you! <3

Yeah hubby been tested and has excellent swimmers. I am 34 been trying since I was 33...turn 35 this year. Had hsg test and tubes clear and ovaries and uterus all scanned and all normal. Both healthy bmi ‘s. we have tried dtd every day...every 2nd day...just at ovulation ... I am totally fed up, my gran was one of 12 my mum one of 7 and I am a twin. No issues in either of our families history. We are due to have ivf end of the year around nov/dec

Oh maca root and dong quai is Chinese herbs Maca is used to improve fertility it’s a superfood. And can be taken all cycle

Dong quai used to strengthen the uterus and also improve infertility, only to be taken pre ovulation . I also take milk thistle and liquorice root too which is support to balance any hormone imbalances and only to take pre ovulation also milk thistle helps to balance liver which helps any hormone imbalances too

I can't give you any tips on how to get pregnant as we're still failing miserably. However I can tell you about my experiences which I hope will be helpful :) We've apparently being doing everything right for months now :wall2:

We use preseed and have also tried conceive plus too. Didn't have any preferences or issues with either and only swapped so I could say we've tried both. As Millie said, main benefit is that it can help things along if you're not in the mood which becomes more of an issue the longer you're in this game. Use it like a regular lube so if you don't use one normally it's not something I'd say to rush out and buy.

I did temping for a few months. Just got a BBT off Amazon similar to the one in Millie's link and made my own chart. Honestly, temping really wasn't for me. I'm not a morning person which really didn't help but I just found it something else to faff about with and I lost interest pretty quickly. I do have regular cycles and after my prolactinoma was sorted out, there was never any question about me ovulating so it just seemed like a pointless exercise. Lots of ladies swear by it though.

This cycle has been my last with OPKs. I just used the cheapies and they worked nicely for me in that I could see an obvious pattern which helps me know when to expect af. We always started dtd before the surge but it was reassuring to see it happen and know that there were no issues with my luteal phase. The only reason I'm stopping them is because I now know my cycle so well that it seems pointless doing it. I would recommend them to someone starting out though.

I've tried several vitamins and have now stripped it back to the essential vitamin d/folic acid and zinc only because I have some left over. I have tried omega 3, CoQ10 and evening primrose oil (up to ovulation) as well as various conception vitamins with no success or impact on my life so I've now decided I'm saving my money. Again there's lots of opinions on this.

I don't know what virtex is.

I'm also doing acupuncture but as you'll see in some of my other posts, I'm dubious about this although others swear by it.

I think the only other things I can add is that it is early days for you so try and take a relaxed approach to begin with if you can as the stress will increase tenfold if you're unlucky enough to find yourself in this long term. I hope this is helpful.

I only got a positive result yesterday after over 2.5 years of trying so I’m probably not great at giving tips. But I took just normal multivitamins with folic acid. Dtd every other day. I used the clear blue ovulation tests. When time was marching on I went to the doctors and demanded a scan as my dr told me there was nothing wrong with me. Lots of luck xxx

Sorry if im just repeating what others are say but charting is good and sound like a good idea for you because it gives you a good indicator that you have actually ovulated, where as the opk let you know you’re having the right hormones for ovulation

The month I conceived I did my BBT, opk, cm, and cervix position and I also took seven sea trying for a baby and felt these helped me loads after coming off the pill. I was so lucky and wasn’t trying long, but the disappointment of at was horrible. Can’t imagine what the long term TTC feel each month and my heart goes out to them.

Hope your journey here is short. FX x

Dont really have any advice apart from regular sex!!
I agree that when you get really into it it is so overwhelming.
Hats off to those who do opks, track their cycles, temperatures, cervical mucus and feel their cervix!! You will be able to gets loads of advice on here but to me it is still confusing, stressful and daunting!! Good luck!! Xx

Xx

I have been TTC for nearly 12 months... I've also had a few miscarriages along the way. I've just completed a full month of charting my BBT and I wish I'd started from the beginning! It just helps you get to know your body and can pick up signs of things that may be wrong that other basic tests won't show. I'm 28 and my partner is 25, neither of us have previous children. We've both had all initial tests done which have come back fine. We have our appointment with fertility doctor on 5th April so just guna wait and see what they say! Good luck - like someone else said, don't get too hung up on this too soon as you never know own how long it's going to take!
