Hi girls,

I have had the worst night sleep last night. I could only lie on my back as I had really back stomach pains every time I tried to move onto my side.

It was that bad that I thought I would have to go to hospital, but if I stayed on my back it was fine. I could get up and walk about without any pain so I am assuming that baby was in a funny position and was not happy about me wanting to move.

Has anyone else experienced this and what can I do as I am not comfortable on my back going to sleep. xxx

mee too, i have exactly the same thing and was thinking of posting about it.

Got some cheap pillows and will give it a try tonight. Thanks xxx

I have also posted about this.

I had such severe pains on one side, in the night it felt like burning cramp. I phoned my midwife and she said it was probably totally normal but to look out for swollen or red patches.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but I slept in a non maternity swimming costume for a few nights and really got myself feeling good again... it was tight enough to hold my bump nice and frim so I could sleep without pillows and it really did the trick while my ligaments sorted themsleves out.

My midwife says I'm a mad woman, but to stick with it if it works! Of course you know your hubby will take the p!ss

No real solutions apart from a really good maternity sleep pillow that supports your bump.

Just wanted to say, try to avoid sleeping on your back. It restricts the blood flow to your heart due to the weight of your uterus pressing on your main vein. Therefore will aloso restrict bloodflow to the placenta. Left hand side is the best position for sleeping in.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SQUISHEE-SQUISHY- ... dZViewItem

I got one of these and because it's so squishy you can put it anywhere... I put it under my bump if I want to sleep on my side, and it sort of moulds around it so it's comfy :) It's also useful to put behind your back in the car or on the settee when you're sitting down to get more comfy :)

I think they are called Squishee or Cushtie if you type them into Google, and they do them in some Debanhams' too.

Just an idea :) I got one because the maternity cushions were so much more expensive and this would at least have other purposes afterwards.

Well, I did have a better sleep last night with the extra pillows but not great. I like the sound of sleeping with a swimsuit on. I think it would give me some extra support where I need it. The only problem I would have would be with the extra visits to the loo through the night at the moment........Still it could be worth a try. Thanks xxx

ive got a maternity pillow from mamanbebe, wish i had got the other one that goes between legs tho :) it sorta helps me on my sides. depends how babys laid.

i lie on my back but not for long as i have fell asleep but woke up laying on my back not good for baby apparently.
