Hi all

I am 29+5 and for the past week, I have been having some nausea and vomiting on and off. I am quite constipated, which I know is not uncommon for third trimester, but the nausea and sickness is starting to get me down a bit; luckily I am a teacher so on summer hols, so it is not effecting work etc., but it is making me feel a bit miserable. It is not happening every day, but just wondering if this is normal (whatever normal means!!) and if anyone else has suffered.

Today for example I ate breakfast (2 bits of toast) which I threw up. I then didn't eat anything until just after 5pm as I was out all day, at which point I just ate some poppadoms, and have since brought them up. My whole bump area feels very tense, and there is a dull ache on and off at the top of my bump (where I imagine my stomach pipe is). Obviously I have had nowhere near enough calories today, so going to have some plain rice in a bit and see if I keep that down; liquids are staying down so I am not massively worried about dehydration, and have felt lots of movement as usual.

Any advice greatfully received :)

Carly

Should also have added, I didn't suffer from morning sickness at all in first trimester (I know, I am a lucky one!!), so not sure if this is just late onset morning sickness.

It's your body preparing for labour and normal to get sick in last trimester. I'm 40+2 and had hyperemesis since 6+half weeks and still lighter than pre pregnancy weight. Your baby will get what it needs despite sickness so don't fret

Thanks for your reply. Glad to know others get it, thiough aren't glad others are suffering! Had a nausea free day yesterday, so not so bad if it is just going to be every so often; just wish I could go the other end!!

1sttimemum 2b, I have suffered constant and severe pregnancy nausea since 6 weeks. It never went away and I'm now 31 weeks. What are you able to eat/drink? I'm consumed with guilt and fear for not proving my baby with nutritious proper food :( I'm so worried I'm going to hinder his development if I haven't already. But I feel sick all the time and haven't eaten properly since pre-pregnancy. It's even worse when you realise you should be eating 300 extra calories daily now.

Like 1sttimemum said your baby will still get all the goodness it needs, you could ask your midwife or pharmacy for healthy start vitamins to put you mind at rest. My midwife gave me some, they contain folic acid, vitamin D and a few other vitamins I think (sorry can't remember exactly what). I'm 33 weeks now and although I haven't been sick this tri I've definitely had a fair few days of feeling nauseous.
