My poor carpet!!

Guest
Damien is sick all over the carpet ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time coz of his reflux, but I can't lock him in up in a play pen all the time - feel mean! Any idea's on what I could do or where I can get a cheapish rug to cover the carpet? The landlords will kill me if he ruins it. I spent an hour and half cleaning it the other day and it's already plastered again

Oooo Lurvly...
I don't know Sami! Does Damien eat in the lounge or does he just chuck when he's playing on the carpet?

Shame - poor wee soul... how about a plastic playmat. My only other suggestion would be Ikea... cheap and cheerful rugs.

Give him a hug from me!

It's when he is playing ont he carpet, he could have eaten 4 or 5 hours before and he will still be being sick! I've got a pastic playmat, but he crawls off it so it's pretty usless now.
I'll have to look in ikea again, they all seem to be so expensive :(

I've just had a brainwave!!! :cheer:

My friend had similar problem and went a got a big cut of those really cheap carpets from a carpet shop. They're not normally loose - should be fitted, but she managed great with it. It filled most of the room. It's quite hard and rough, but it did the job.

Pop into your local carpet shop and ask them for the cheapest of cheap. They might even get it stitched around for you. I think back then she may have paid something like £25.... don't hold me to it.

I know the colours are limited - she had a charcoal grey one.

Hope this helps!

That's a good idea. Our carpet now is a mottled grey/blue one so I doubt it could get much worse! Rugs to cover our lounge space are looking a bit pricey, so that might be worth a shot!

We tend to use a throw that you would buy for the couch as we find it easier to just pop in the washing machine when Charlie has thrown up on it!
We had a few from offers in the catalogues and either bought items or just returned them to get the free gift so we have a few we can alternate between washes.

Hi Sami, my idea might be a bit expensive (we asked for ours as an xmas prezzie for Reece). As we have a wooden floor we were bothered about Reece banging his head etc so we got these outdoor/indoor mats from ELC and used them as basically a big rug in the front room. I got 4 packs of 4 (at £10 per set). You can tell by this pic that 1 pack of 4 covers quite an area (over 120cm i think). We only needed 3 packs to fill our livingroom. They are easy enough to pick up after baby gone to bed :D

Hi,

we use two duvet covers in the front room as he chucks up a lot too. We have also got foam play mats that fit together but we got ours from ebay:-

It's really cool except the numbers and letters pop out so I've had to take out the little bits until he's old enough not to try and eat them. He likes picking up number 8 and P now though as there are convienient holes! When he spews or wees on them I throw them in the bath to clean them. I have ideas of us playing hopscotch on them when he's older or somekind of "vortex" from the Adventure Game type game so I'm hoping that they will be good for a long while and worth the money.

I like these, our living room would look halerious but a very good idea!
I like the letter ones too, but if the bits come out it's not such a good idea.
I've tried the duvet cover, but something which is easy to wipe clean sounds much better.
The foam squares are pricey, but sound good to me. Thanks hun xx
