I have been to see them tonight - I went yesterday too.
He was born @ 38 weeks. He only weighs 4lb 4.5oz, They induced her because he wasnt growing.
He has been in special care because he cant feed, his sugars are all over the place and he cant control his temp.
He is so tiny! I had a nephew who was born at 26 weeks so I am no stranger to special care wards, but it was still really hard. He did seem to be improving when I was him tonight - I was even allowed a very quick cuddle!!!
My Friend is having a really hard time, while she was pregnant her and her partner split up and he didnt want to know about the baby - it wasnt planned. They are still living in the same house as they live with his mum, and she didnt want her to move out, she cant afford to either. Its been really difficult for her in the pregnancy and she was hoping that he would change his mind about the baby when it was here, but he hasnt and I think shes just realised that as well as having a poorly baby her relationship is over, and she cant stay in the house for much longer as the atmosphere has been awful, no place to bring up a baby. She has a very bad relationship with her mum and dad, and apart from her exes mum I have been her only visitor. She has a few other mates but they cant come in till the weekend.
Shes on a ward with all other new mums and her baby is in the scbu. Its such a hard time for her, I ended up crying my eyes out with her yesterday.
Her pregnancy/birth/and new mum experiences are so different to mine, it really makes me think about things...
She thinks her LO will be out of scbu tomorrow and in transitional care. I hope so cause she needs some good news!!!
