Well i started contracting on the wednesday, i went to the hospital on the thursday to see what was happening in there! The midwife said my cervix was still closed but very soft! I was gutted as i was in so much pain, all the midwife kept saying to me was "you will know when you are in labour" all i thought was how can this get ANY worse?! Friday came and i woke up feeling very sick, also loosing ALOT of plug. I was contracting all day and they just got worse! I was up all night in pain, contractions getting closer together! My OH had ro go to work so i was petrified to be left by myself. The contractions got so bad i had to call the maternity ward. tjuasked me to come in straight away, OH came back from work and off we went.
I was examined and told i was 2cm, to go home and come back when they got worse!
1pm and we were on our way back! Exmained again and i was 4cm, i wasnt letting the contractions do their job as my body was trying to fight against them. I decided to have pethidine to relax me and help me sleep as i hadnt slept in a day or 2! I woke up at about 6pm and had SO much pressure in my bum, i couldnt walk or sit down, i got a midwife to examine me and she said i was 9cm!
Was whisked ofd straight to the pool and had gas and air.
the pool was like heaven! My waters hadnt broke so the midwife tried to brake them with the stick which hurt too much, in the end they had to cut the sack! 10 mins later my baby girl was here at 20.59pm weighing 6lbs 4
had to have a few stitches but have recovered very well and settled in perfectly!

Nobody tells you how painful early labour can be! I was not prepared with my DD, I too had pethidine when I was only 2cm! So glad things sped up for you in the end
