Ive got my MW appointment this afternoon and I have a few questions for her:

Can I eat sushi?

I'm happy with bolton hospital but do they have birthing pools?

I walk for more than an hour twice a week should i be doing more?

Will a heart beat monitor work soon?

I'm so full of water will it go away!?

Anything other than ginger that will help with morning sickness?

Can you guys think of anything? I hve no idea about anything so any suggestions would be ace.

I can answer the first one for you - yes as long as it's been frozen (and mostly it has even in restaurants) as raw fish can contain worm-like parasites that are killed by freezing (unlike bacteria in meat).

TBH the midwives are usually quite comprehensive and if you think of anything later that can't wait till your next appt you can always phone them. If they don't tell you when and how many appts you will get, both with mw and at hospital (if any) then I would ask, plus make sure they schedule your next appt before you leave, and if you haven't already got a scan date ask how long it'll be and whether it'll be a nuchal scan.

ooh royal bolton hosp? me too! well i'm having a home birth again hopefully but home births still need a back-up hosp in case there are any probs. i was booked in at another one last time coz i didnt know them anyway- but definately prefer bolton now. i went to their EPU in november and i went to A&E in october too- from what i saw its well nicer than the other hosp i was booked in at last time. hey we might see each other! lol

re. the morning sickness- seabands really help (accupressure wristbands, avail from pharmacies) iv lost mine tho :(

Apparently fruity fizzy water is good for morning sickness, as it doesn't settle on the stomach, and my midwife told me eating a high protein snack before you go to bed will also help. Something like Milk, cheese, eggs or chicken, and you can get protein bars in health food shops.

My MW was lovely! My OH turned finished work early and came with me too so we all had a really good chat. She thinks that if want a water birth then I should think about doing it at home. She also said that I'm a few days further on than I thought so I'm in my 8th week not 7th. YAY

Shes given me my notes and shes coming over to my house on the 7th of March to take my bloods. Shes such a lovely woman, I'm so chuffed that I'm all ok. I had a cool blood pressure of 100/65, sounds a bit low but she said its fine.

Glad it went well, Della. don't worry about the bp, it's normal for it to drop, mine's always bang on normal but last time they checked it was 100/60. Better down than up! I don't think they consider it low till it's under 90/60
