Was just wondering if anyone else is getting these? I seem to get them in the morning or night if I stretch or move my leg in a certain way, it's like the muscle sort of pops out of the back of my calf, dunno if that is really explaining it well but they really hurt :wall2: and are they normal to have in pregnancy? had one this morning soon as the alarm clock went of at 6:30 and it was just so painful!

Hi I get exactly the same, ive been trying to go for lots of gentle walks lately but it doesnt improve it, i wake up in agony almost screaming into my pillow so i dont wake my mam up.
I just assumed it was normal and im quite thankful im not the only one who gets them.
Mine were just in the calf but now hurt my ankle and make my toes spasm, once the cramp goes im left with an ache for days after.

Couldnt really help you sorry but im curious to if anyone replies with any remidies
xx

Thanks for the reply Lisa, glad to know I'm not the only one, my leg is really sore after the one I had this morning, I read having a warm bath can help and it did until I got out of the bath :wall2: I'm hoping someone might have some remedies too :oooo: xxxxx

well i must have a funny body lol, i dont have a shower and i love a hot bath but settle for a warm bath since i found out hot baths arent good for the baby and ive never felt any better.

I did go to the doctors before they moved to my ankle and toes and he checked my pulse in my foot and said i was fine he told me to do some strecthes on a morning and evening but they dont help me.. think ill give them a call, i could be missing something in my diet

xx

Not easy to be doing stretches when your sore anyway, if I stretch my leg the spasm just happens again, I'm scared to stretch it now lol

In my last 2 pregnancies, I got them later towards the end, I used to wake up screaming, used to scare the life out of the hubby :D so I will be hoping someone posts a remedy up just in-case I get them again! Fingers crossed someone knows a remedy! x x x

Hi ladies! I know what causes cramping and muscle spasms (constant twitching) as I get them as well. They can be causes by dehydration, low magnesium, low calcium, or low potassium (or a combo of those things). Try drinking electrolyte water and eating things like potatoes, bananas, milk. I find that when I go on a boiled potato binge (one of my fav pregnancy cravings) they definitely ease up! Good luck and I hope this helps you :)

Meant to add, if you have low vitamin D levels it can make the low calcium worse. Calcium and magnesium issues are common with pregnant ladies, so be sure to have a well rounded diet and that will help :)

Thank you, wll deffo try that then! I am living on jacket potatoes with cheese at the mo! :) x x

oh yes. It's quite a common thing in pregnancy. They say you should make sure that you stay hydrated, and also massages can help... It's very unpleasant isn't it :(

Holland and barret do a magnesium muscle rub, designed for leg cramps. Boots stock it as well. U spray it on at bed time and massage it in. Not sure about using it during pregnancy but mite be worth looking into?

The plantar fascitis shoes have really given me pain relief from my year long battle with plantar fasciitis. I have are so comfortable and really helps my planter fastidious. Able to walk now even long distances without much pain. Will definitely be buying another pair from orthofeet! I would recommend them to anyone with any kind of foot pain. Wonderful support all the way around.
