OMG i woke up in agony at about 3 am this morning, my leg had gone all hard ( the calf bit) and it really hurt, it took ages for it to go away, and now its still sore, i cant put my foot down to walk properly and i have a limp, I have had it in my toe before but never my leg

Has anyone had this before and whats the best cure to take the pain away!

I've been getting this....someone posted a while ago about pushing the heel of the foot out to stretch the calf.....I have found this eases it. I have leapt (not easy when your pregnant  out of bed before with the pain!! How am I supposed to cope with labour if I can't cope with cramp

thanks emmylou, i have just phoned my mum as well to see what she says, and she said..

"Get your foor on a cold floor" lol i have carpets upstairs and the pain i was in i couldnt even walk so how im supposed to get my foot on a cold floor lol..

Oh well will try the heel trick, but i was the same and lept out of bed, then nearly landed in a crumpled heap lmao..

:rotfl: yep.....I did when i leapt out of bed, then realised my back was stiff too......woe is me :rotfl:

its due to a poor balance of salts in the body, LO has prob nicked them all off you

i used to get it loads when i did aqua aerobics and used the treadmill. its horrible. the only way to get rid of the pain is to use your leg even tho it hurts. what i also found to help is to flex muscle the otherway, ie, stretch your leg sticking your heal out and point toes up.

to prevent another attack i would recommend taking a salt replacement drink (the kind you give to kids when they get dioarreah (sp?), comes in a sachet of powder) i know these are safe to use in pregnancy because i asked my chemist.

hope you can get it to go away soon

Thanks tangerinedream, will try that,

HURTS TOO MUCH NOT TO TRY ANYTHING LOL..

I heard it's due to poor circulation and is very common in pregnancy. I have had it mildy on a couple of occasions but nothing serious.

Eating bananas is supposed to be good for circulation as they contain potassium which is beneficial apparently.
