Hey ladies,
Im going for a sweep tommorrow to hopefully get labour moving along as baby is tormenting us and still hanging in there (im convinced its a girl for keeping everyone waiting and being fashionably late!).
I just wanted to know a few things about sweeps.so if you dont mind can you please answer a few of my questions? ok here goes:

1. Did your sweep hurt?
2. Did it work?
3. If it did work, how long did it take you to go into labour?

Thank you :D

hiya
i had a sweep it doesn't really hurt its just uncomfortable... :?

i had the sweep on the sunday b4 going into labour on the thursday so no it didn't work

sorry i wasn't much help :?

I had a membrane sweep with Nathan when i was 3 days over due and honestly yes it does hurt. I'd say its worse then a smear but if you keep relaxed and breathe through it its over pretty quick. Mine did work, My waters broke about 24 hours after having it done after having some AF types pains. He was born about 40 hours after having it done. For me it was definatly worth it cos i've been through and induction and this was a 100% better. Good luck tomorrow, hope it works for you!

I had a sweep the day before i went i was induced my waters didnt break but when i was induced i was already 2cm dilated. Personally i did find it uncomfortable but it didnt hurt. Hope everything goes well for you

I had a sweep, it didn't hurt, my MW said i was ready to go, waters ready to break etc and I still didn't go into labour. I was induced a week later.

i had a sweep the day before i was due with Louie & i found it really uncomfortable, she said i was ready & the cervix was favourable, i had a small amount of bllod in my knickers when i got home.

Louie was born the next day on his due date, you never really know wether the sweep does send you into labour or if it would have happened any way.
good luck hun, can't wait to hear

Hi there hunnie...I had a sweep at 4pm on the thurs, contractions started at 2.30am fri, went to the hospital at 5am and gave birth at 8.42am....i found it really uncomfortable but i thought it was so worth it....although when i had the sweep i was already 3cm dilated so was on my way but i think the sweep speeded things up....hope your little suprise arrives soon....both my girls were late, Haylea was 15 days late and induced and Ashlea was 8 days late....whatever little bundle of joy you get they are all worth the wait....good luck hunnie and keep us posted...xxxx

I had the sweep and it was uncomfortable and painful and it didn't work

I had the sweep and it didn't really hurt me just a little uncomfortable but was ok, and it worked for me within 48 hours my son was born...i was 9 days over due when i was given one

I had a sweep on the tuesday, thursday and Friday (lucky me :D ) gave birth to Rowan on the saturday (his due date). I found the first sweep totally painless and not even particularly uncomfortable, other two were a little more uncomfortable but certainly not painful at all.

I had three because they were trying to get me to go on time as I cant deliver big babies and we didnt want him baked any longer. Good luck with the sweep hun xx

I had a sweep during labour, it really really hurt but didnt make a blind bit of difference  still took 17hrs
