OK i went bathroom this morning after waking to the telephone and backache and when i wiped there was clear jelly all over the tissue.. i was almost 2cm at my last prenatal visit and im booked for a sweep thursday... what are the chances this is the beggining or does it need to have blood in it xx

well, i've heard it can vary in appearance and in fact i've just wiped and had a bit of mucousy looking stuff, sort of clear, sort of snotty colour - mmmm!!yum!! I guess us ladies do get a bit of wierd discharge now and then anyway and could justbe a slight infection or something, although i dont feel i have an infection, so fingers crossed!!!


That would just be too good though, have a feeling this little one is gona be late but we'll see - good luck!!!

The mucous plug lies within the neck of the womb. It comes away as the neck of the womb (cervix) begins to enlarge to allow the baby to pass through. Therefore it is lost at the very beginning of labour. The length of time between this and delivery is very variable, between a few days and a few hours.

This mucous plug may not be recognised at all; but it looks like a small piece of stringy jelly. Sometimes, but not always it may be streaked with a small amount of blood. A more reliable sign of the onset of labour, that your midwife will tell you about, is the onset of low stomach pains. These are usually irregular at first but become regular and more intense.

ive been losing this for well over a week now with no blood, today after my sweep is the first time i have had it with blood in it.

I had some with some blood last night so fingers crossed wont be long. Gonna try some naughties tonight to see if that works. Even if it doesnt at least i will have fun trying. Much more enjoyable than walking and eating yucky curry

I had loads of clear jelly stuff (kinda like egg white) the day before I went into labour! Good luck!!!

I had loads of clear jelly stuff (kinda like egg white) the day before I went into labour! Good luck!!!
