My Hv has said now max is so close to 6 months I can up his food.

So this morning I gave him his first weetabix :D he loved it. And I wanna start doing proper lunches n dinners but how long shall I give it to introduce new things? Like one new thing a day?? Cause I wanna start giving him yoghurts and toast and things aswell as having small amounts of my dinner in the evening

Just dunno how long it should take to introduce new things- so today he's had a weetabix- can I not introduce anything else new for a few days now?

Hope I make sense lol xx

Ooh! I'll be watching this thread as it may answer my 'slow progress with weaning' thread x

gee lol i never worry about things like that too much, most of the time i stick to the same kinda things, potato, toast, ready brek, banana, rusk, heinz fruity pots, biscottis, rice cakes, crisps like quavers or rice cake like ones, chicken, fish fingers, hot dog sausages, fruit toast, fromage frais.

yesterday i gave her a little chunk of cheshire cheese and today i put a bit of cheese in with some potato and made cheesy mash. i dont really be strict on how often i introduce new things and most of the time if im eating something she wants some lol so i give her a lil bit unless its really unsuitable (she wanted some of my pork ribs yesterday and that was a no go lol but i gave her a lil bit of pork to taste) id say offer it to him and see how he takes it. oh and cornflakes are a no no lol, theyre not soft fast enough and alyssa puked cos one got a bit stuck. good job it was my brekkie not hers

I was hoping you would reply bev!!

Yeah I gave him a few wheaty bready things- weetabix, small tiny bit of toast and some breadsticks so I know he's all good with wheat/gluten (plus he's been having rusk for weeks but I've stopped that now)

But I wanna introduce things like yoghurts, banana n custard, beans/spag hoops on toast, eggs (bit cautious?), pasta n sauce n wanna give meat too so I can make him a mini dinner from my dinner, but something holdings me back lol I don't wanna give too much at once I guess!

He hates veg :( I keep trying but he just gags n spits it out, he only like sachet veg. He likes fruit like banana melon peach etc but I guess its the bitterness of the veg

Was just going to post an identical post!!! Will be thread stalking. E now on breakfast and tea but wondering how I start to encourage her to have water with meals - she hates it!! And she seems the opposite to other kids - fruit puree is hard work but she LOVES her veggies! And is fromage frais ok? She likes it but it seems full of sugar? God, so many questions!!

id not worry too much about the sugar unless its ridiculously high or your giving lo lots of the high sugar foods, i think potato is good to mix with other veggies to make them more palateable like rusk is with fruits. i gave alyssa a bit of cheesy mash today and she liked it. eggy bread would be a good one to introduce eggs or omelette

oh il be stalking this one too finding it so hard to giver her new foods for the fear of choking her, yep im still on that one although doing ok with the toast now

We eat a bit late to give her our dinner so against everything i said when i was pg iv been giving lots of hipp organic jars :-( and now she seems to have gone off my homemade stuff, i didnt worry about how many new ones to try though, i just got 2 of each flavour and give the same one 2 days in a row most of the time, she is now on the 7 month ones with more lumps and Loves spagetti carbonara, bit nervous about giving her my homemade one though with the egg n that though, also she goes crazy for petti filou

for sambos do you just ive a square of it or cut it up small?

i cut toast into 4 long pieces so id probably do the same with sandwiches tho i havent given her a proper butty yet lol. today she had cheesy beans and potato and was a bit unsure of it as its the first time ive given her it, she likes cheese mash so i just put beans in it and fork mashed them and she ate half of it with a bit of aeroplane fun lol. alyssa really dont like jar food so i struggle with tea as i have mine later usually and oh has tea after work which is almost 10pm. im trying to have tea earlier so she can have some with me but its a bit hit and miss lol, always have ready brek or rusk for brekkie now tho, mixed with fruit if i have any in, banana usually as i always have those. and then blw lunch of toast, potato based meal like jacket, fruit bread, cheese and biscuits or soem kind of veg sticks like carrot. im going shoppin in a bit so im gonna get more veggies n chicken and make her some chicken dinners for the freezer cos i cant just keep giving her snacky stuff or trying to make her eat jars she hates lol

Its so tough to know/decide what to do!

Max hated food today- alk he wanted was milk. Hopiing its a one off

Kayla has days where all she wants is milkk so i just go with it
she absolutlly loves the hipp organic spagetti carbonara now so ive given that the last few days just cos i know she willl eat it n went few days where she didnt want anything

can they have slices of cheddar cheese now?

yeah they can have eggs and dairy after 6 months so go crazy lol, i had cheese spreas on bread rubbed into my leg as i gave her a bit when i was making a packed lunch and she promptly gummed a bit then rubbed it on my legs lol

Albert's been on 3 meals a day from the word go lol but he's getting bored with just fruit and veg. Am going to try meat and also give him some toast to dribble on from next week. So will be making notes from this thread lol

i tried her with a omlette yesterday nd she was not impressed, just wasnt sure about cheese cos its harder than egg and i still have the "im gonna choke my baby" fear lol did u just give a tin slice then?

I melted the cheese in with her tea time veggies if this is any help? I fork mash and then freeze veggies in an ice cube tray then just pop them out for tea and heat in the microwave so added the cheese when I defrosted in the microwave and she seemed to enjoy it! We started on lunch today as well as breakfast and tea. I'm doing TW and adding finger food in, so today she fed herself toast fingers, an organix carrot puff thing, and then I fed her some avacado. Feel like I'm finally getting somewhere on the food front!

ive given alyssa cheshire cheese grated into her meals and melted and ive given her a chunk of it to feed herself and i give her cheese spread on bread/toast

Im going to start and give LO food like this, been a bit naughty on jars and think Amelia is getting used to them!! Did it take ur Lo's a while to pick it up and feed themselves? x

well for me i gave alyssa a whle rusk to hold and when she put it in her mouth and ate it herself thats when i knew it was time to start weaning so shes always had solid food as well as mush. she likes to feed herself so we have 1 meal a day usually where she has solid things and feeds herself, usually lunch and i give her a pudding after it so shes more full and actually gets something into her tummy lol as the dog gets a lot of the food she drops. im thinking of giving her chips and carrots today, oven roasted things she can get hold of work great

Max just seems to hate everything!gonna start a new thread about it. But yeah he feeds himself toast fingers, carrot puffs, biscotti biscuits and even with his spoon but I just help him along otherwise most goes all over his face or down his front
