Hi Ladies,

Wondering if you can answer my OH question. Was researching baby monitors yesterday and mentioned that some come with a movement monitor that you put in the bed (some how)... he asked what does this really do for you? Is it something else that is just going to beep during the night but not tell you anything... Did not know the answer... only know that my sister had one and thought it was good...

He is worried that it is just another way for these companies to make more money by getting you to worry about something else...

We love the features like room temp and stuff but really not sure the benifit of this.

Thanks..

I love my breathing monitor. It goes under the mattress above the wooden slats under the baby. I can turn my bleep off so it just flashes at me. It's very reassuring, I just look for the green light and I know she Is ok. It's hard to remember to turn it off at night and in the morning!

My husband was thinking the same, but he loves it now. Best £55 I've ever spent :)

I think... not 100% though, that it's a pad that is palce under the sheets and baby lies on it. It sense movement like breathing and if it doesn't feel movement after so long it'll beep or alert you somehow.

I remember when I first had my nephew stop over at mine around 14/15 weeks, he lay fast asleep in his moses basket and every 20 minutes, my head would be in the basket feeling that his chest was still going up and down and that he was still breathing. I could see the monitor in that respect being useful and takes the worry out of it all, but to be honest, I'd probably just still check for myself anyways so it would be a waste of money for me personally!

I don't check on Isla any more, I find it disturbs her sleep so my monitor is very useful.

As above, the alarm goes off if no movement is detected in 20 seconds. Mine is the tommee tippee one

Thanks for that ladies... Can explain to my husband tonight now. :-) Does sounds usefully and not allot more expensive to get one with this added feature....

Saw the Tommee Tippee and the Angelcare ones... both look really good...

i had a video camera 1 and it was pants i attempted to use it for 1 time and give up banged it in its box and sold it on ebay lol

I've got the tomee tippee monitor one with the movement sensor...haven't used it yet but I'm glad I went for it.

we've been looking at these and thought the tommy tippee one looked good, but couldn't find any real reviews online! glad some of you have it and like it, think we will defiantly get it now, as OH really wants one with the sensor mat and i can see all the pluses of it and its not that much more expensive!

We've just bought the tommee tippee one, it looks really good, and I think it will help keep my mind at rest (or at least ease a bit of my anxiety lol)

how much is this never thought about something like this were do u get it from x

My husband is very cautious with everything so he bought us a monitor that does for sound, it also has movement sensor pads to sense breathing, it comes with two different size pads, one small for Moses basket and one big one for in cot as baby could wriggle off a smaller one in a cot and set the alarm off. It's also got a temperature sensor so if baby over heats an alarm goes off. And it has a camera. Very excessive but peace of mind non the less :) x
