I was just wondering if my little girl is the only one who has this problem...Its quite embarrassing

Every now and again, about once every couple of months... her lady bits become very sore, red, itchy...they smell pretty awful too... She cries in pain...but just getting her to lay down, clean them with cotton wool and warm water, then apply some mertanium nappy rash cream seems to clear it up within a few days. But obviously it's not nappy rash and is only around her lady bits area.

I have my theories on why this happens  ... one she doesn't clean herself properly after a poo....or cleans from back to front (I have desperately tried to teach her front to back, but it falls on deaf ears), thus infecting her lady bits... or the fact she NEVER EVER puts clean knickers on everyday, without me reminding her :x , or a combination of the two... I dunno... at 8 years old, she's way too old for me to follow her around every time she uses the loo.. and she get's herself ready in the morning, so I don't always know if she has put clean knickers on...

I mentioned this to my mum and she said I had similar problems when I was a little girl but it was due to me being allergic to certain soaps and as a result I never use soap on my daughter's lady bits...

I just wondered if this is a "little girl" problem or more of an inherited family problem. My little sister has never had this problem and she's adopted.. :?

Sorry not had that problem before or haven't a clue what could be causing it  Hope you find out whats up soon and get it sorted.

yeah ive had this once or twice with my eldest.
i think its just from not wiping properly.
i have just let them apply some sudocream and its settled them ok.

i wouldn't clean it too much as it might irritate more.

also taking a shower instead of a bath may help coz they aen't lingering in soapy water. and making sure they dry properly after a shower and having a wee

hope its sorted soon,

squig if it keeps reoccuring i wiuod take her to the docs as she m,ay be getting thrush

i know this post was a while ago but thought i would reply anyway. Both my little girls get this now and again i put it down to not cleaning right after passing urine, i now use wet wipes fragrance free it seems to help a bit, i notice it more if they miss a bath for a night, so i try and get them in the bath every night even if its just a puddle to clean their bum.

I'd say from not wiping properly as Paris gets it too

Sudocrem is good for it
