hi ya i went to a private mummy and baby class but it was horrible kept getting that ' shes a young mum must have been a 1 nite stand look' i sat there like a plum the whole time lol

i was just wondering if neone knows ne other companys that do mum n baby groups, as id love to go

You're better off looking on the notice board at your clinic or asking your HV. I googled and came up with a few ones near me. The problem with big company ones I find, is they are very expensive and not that good value either. I prefer ones in church halls with a cuppa and a biscuit :)

Yeah, the church hall / community centre types ones are good.
At mines its a mixture between birth & 3. They are all at various stages and to be honest I wouldnt know who was a single mum and who wasnt because it doesnt matter. There is one girl who looks quite young but she is a fab mum and her wee boy is a cracker. But then I dont know what age she is and what her circumstances are. At the end of the day we are all there having fun with our kids and if folk are looking down their nose at you they are assholes.

There's two mum and baby groups round here. One funded by social services for the chav mums that will get their kids taken into care if they don't go every week, the other funded by the church full of 40 yr old god squad mums wearing sandals and socks.

Why can't there be groups for 'normal' mums.

Wow I must be so lucky, there are loads round here, my favorite one is on a monday and has singing at the end :)

Have you tried Sure Start? They do a few really good m&b classes in my town. Thats where i met all my mummy friends lol

My friend went to sure start ones and she did some computer and psycology courses there while the kids were playing.

I'll be looking in to this when we return in 6 weeks :D

I think you are very brave going sarah, good on ya you must be more confident than I am! I am worried people will judge me, I am 20 but look younger and worry what people are thinking lol. I know its stupid and we should let them think what the hell they want because at the end of the day its none of their business

i went to a mum n baby club with sera when she was little in town n it was auful. all the mums were speakin in french so that i dnt understand n then all of them were all in groups so i just sat n played with sera

we have sure start here and theres loads of different things to go to. I just completed a baby massage 4 week course with Matthew and got a certificate and book at the end and in 2 weeks I am going to a weaning workshop where you get a free blender!!!

Bubble B, That's outrageous!!! being French myself, I feel ashamed!!!Where about in south of France are you?

my group starts on the 20th and I will be in the exact opposite situation, probably the only Frenchy there! And I am quite shy as well, so let's see!
I really want to go, because I like this forum, and hope to meet nice people and be able to talk to someone rather than staying home and do nothing nice!

The only time I have been in a group, was the parentcraft classes, and there everyone was very shy or too snob, I don't know, but nobody really talked to each other!
The only person I managed to talk a little bit to WAS a young single mother! probably even younger than you, Sarah! She was the only one I felt I could try to approach!
And funny enough, I have seen her loads in the towns centre, since, she has a lovely little boy! I really hope she will be there, in the mums and babies group!

I really hope you find a nice group to go to! Sarah, you are a great mum! People benefit from knowing you! It's a shame they did not see it! That's a loss to them! Not to you!

mel xx

I went to one on Tuesday for the first time at the church hall 2 minutes from me.
It is 0-3years, when i got there they were all mature mum's and i got the same look as Sarah, but i had 2 kids so it was worse!
They had an hour play, drinks and biscuits and a brew for us and then song time with instruments at the end, it was great and FREE!!!!

I was sat on my own cos the rest were all in a little "click" with each other so i had the old woman who supervises it all talking to me!

Amy absolutely loved it so i will be going again, i don't care if no one speaks to me they don't know why i have had kids and if i hear them talking i will tell them both kids were planned and i have a partner too.
Just cos they turned up in their 4x4's and posh clothes- we all s**t out of the same hole!! lol

I would check clinic boards sarah, or ask the HV for a list in your area, thats how i got mine.

I cant believe how some people act its not like young mums arent common now and its not like your all 12! But even funnier is the fact years ago women got married and had half a dozen kids by the time they turned 18!!!

hi michelle,
thanks for that, its in greenstead and u dont touch greenstead with a barge pole lol, its all the convicts lol

lol sarah! Sure starts are usually in the more 'deprived area's' well it says something like that on the website! Theres one not far from me though and Its a lovely centre but iv yet to make the most of the facilities. they have a light and sound room and a play thing where you have 1hours free play each day and theres a little cafe, its where they have the clinic so I take Ella there to be weighed.

lol im in warrington in cheshire, probably a long way to travel! Maybe you should try the sure start centre even if it is in a dodgy area? they are really good and they do alsorts, for example they take you swimming and come pick you up in a mini bus. You might not be covered by it though if your too far away from it but you can always give them a call and see, or ask your HV

yeah ill ask my HV bout it dont like the fone lol!!

its only bout a 10 min walk away so should be ok
and yes cheshire is to far, do u think they would move it for us
