Moses Baskets and sleeping arrangements for 1st 6 mths

Hi All
Just wondering who used moses baskets and at what age did your baby 'graduate' into a cot? It would seem that babies grow out of moses baskets at 3 months...

I'd like baby to sleep in our room for 6 months but there isn't the room for a cot and even a crib is pushing it, plus I'd like to be able to bring baby downstairs and it would be v tricky carting a crib up and down the stairs!

I just don't know...

Jake was 5 1/2 months when we moved him out of his moses basket and in to his cot in his room. I think it just depends on the size of your baby. Jake weighed 14lb 6oz (in between the 2nd and 9th centile in his red book meaning he was a bit under the average weight) when he was 5 1/2 months and although I don't know his height for when he was 5 1/2 months old I know he has been on the average line since birth.

James was in the moses basket until about 3 months. He was a very long baby, on the top end of the centile.

Whilst it was very handy being able to move sleeping baby around the house I think I'll not bother with a moses basket for number 2 (sold James' ages ago!) I'll probably just put the new baby straight into the cot and buy a decent baby monitor (yep, sold that too ). I thought it was too much money to spend for 3 months use.

Leif is in his moses basket at the moment but looks like he is going to outgrow it pretty quickly so we are planning on putting him in his travel cot in our room after that till he is at least 6 months old as his cotbed is far to big to go in our room.

Austin moved into a cot in his own room at about 2 1/2 months. I always have the baby monitor with me. He's just started sleeping through!

What does your baby sleep in downstairs when not in the cot?

Mine naps in his chair, It goes right back so he is laying in it.

willow outgrew her moses basket at 6 weeks and we moved her in to her nursary at 6 weeks to and everything has been fine we use the moniter

Libby is exactlly the same as Willow, has been in her nursery since 6 weeks.

When she's in the living room in the day she sleeps in her chair as it goes right back into a lying position

All mine have gone into their cots by the time they were 6 weeks. Its not just the lengh its the width to. They always seemed to be banging their arms on the side. I had a travel cot down stairs but most of the time they napped in their chair layed right back or on my knee
