what moses basket or crib does everyone have?

i've still not bought many baby things but have been having a look at moses baskets as we'll be moving house in a few weeks, and we're planning to get everything in when we move.

i'm just wondering what everyone else has because i've looked at some online and nothing catches my eye

I have the Nostalgia from Mamas & Papas but it was given to us by a friend.

I got the I love my bear one from toys r us :)

that's on my list of possibles at the moment
which stand did you get with it?

my ultimate favourite is this --->

http://www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk/shop ... ct_id=2287

i seen it when we went to the pram centre and fell in love with it, they also do a bedding set which i would love. i just can't justify that price for the moses basket though, when he'll more than likely only be in it for a few months

I got the rocking stand. I some how ended up with 8 stands though so Im selling some on ebay.

We just got the most basic one in the store as they are hardly in it for 5 minutes so didn't feel the need to splash out or worry too much about how it looks. It'll do the job which works for me.

We got the Fun At The Zoo one from Mothercare. It is bright and colourful, not wishy washy colours and neutral. Plus it has a couple of little toys to keep eyes busy for a few minutes.

Bedding wise I've only bought fitted sheets for the mattress as we plan on using sleeping bags for night time etc. I have a couple of blankets we can use during the day if need be also but not bothered with moses basket sized ones.

We did consider a crib instead so LO could stay in it longer but decided to go straight from moses basket to full size cot then.

this is ours from babies r us :D

I don't know where mine is from as it was given to me. It's not an expensive one with loads of padding.
It looks lovely though, white with a blue trim.

It's not woth spending loads of money on the moses basket as you're lucky to get 3 months use out of them. If we bought our own I would have probably got one of the cheaper ones from mothercare or toys r us for £29.99.

We were given a rocking stand, but if we bought our own I would have opted for a folding one as they're easier to move around the house.
The rocking one's do look nicer though, just not as practical

our's was given to us by friends- we wouldn't have bought one otherwise because they only use them for a matter of weeks!

My nan tried to convince me to use a drawer.... Apparantly thats where she spent her first 6 weeks!

We got the Cosatto Oslo Glider Crib, as it was the only way we can have her sleeping in our bedroom for 6 months - a cot will not fit.

We got it for £80 rather than £100 from Boots online. Might be worth a look? Think they have a few others on offer still too. Make sure you dig around for a code for advantage points as well - Think we got about £25 of points for the shop we did!

We don't have a moses basket, as felt it was quite a lot of money for something they might only spend 6 weeks in. Plus our carrycot on the buggy has a proper mattress, so we can use this if necessary.

Oh and kiddicare.com is always worth a look too. They have good deals.

I have been given my sister littel boy Alenader's moses basket i have no idea what it looks like as its still up in Newcastle cant wait till my parents come down with the van and all my Nephews stuff :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I just wanted a cheapy one from Argos - they are only in them for a very short time - but MIL insisted on buying us an £80 Zeddy and Parnsip one from M&P. It is nice, but no different from one from Argos for a quarter of the price tbh!

Moses basket? Crib? Cot? Why would we have any of them? I'm only 37 weeks pregnant :wall:

We can't decide. We did decide a crib from Toys R Us (a swinging crib with mattress and drape rod for £59.99) but then we had more indecision. My parents bought a travel cot with bassinet for their place so we've borrowed that for now. We're going to order the cot this week and we will decide once baby is here whether we want a moses basket or crib. We are considering not having baby in our room, which I'm sure makes us evil parents but I think we'd all sleep better and if we keep our bedroom and the nursery doors open I will be able to see baby in his or her cot from my bed.

If you've got the travel cot with basinette I'd be tempted to give the moses basket/crib a miss and just buy a cot. They cost a lot of money for the amount of time you'd use them for.

As for having baby in seperate room, it's down to personal choice. I know I'd get fed up with going backwards and forwards between rooms all night. I find it easier having the moses basket next to the bed so I don't have to walk too far when I'm half asleep.
I think for the first month or so they will just wake up when they are hungry regardless of whether you are in the same room, when they get to a few months old you might find it easier for them to settle in a different room.
Everyone's different though, just go with what you think will work for you :)

Hello

I am stuck, I have a huge cot in the nursery to big for baby.

Mother in law has bought a new mattress for a 30 year old wicker crib that has been in loft and has had to be shaven down due to nasty sharp bits coming away

the house is full of smoke. so I am going to pretend to use in the bedroom and buy a moses basket or the travel bassinette sounds good.

I don't have a clue what do get, what happens after 6 weeks, do you move the cot into the bedroom ?

The official advice is have baby sleep in your room for 6 months. I personally think my baby maybe too big for a moses basket after 3/4 months.
I was planning to have baby sleeping in my room in the moses basket for 3/4 months. Then transfer him/her to his own cot in his own room.
I am flexible though. I can always move cot into our room if baby gets too big for the basket and I am not yet ready for him/her to be in a different room.

We are using the moses basket in our bedroom (and downstairs during the day) until Logan outgrows it, then we will bring the cot into our room until he's about 6 months old. Then the cot will move back into James' room.

I definately wouldn't use the wicker thing your MIL's dumped on you. It sounds fit for the bonfire!

I would buy a moses basket as you can move them around the house. Or if you haven't got room for the cot in your bedroom I'd go for a crib and use that in your bedroom for 6 months.
There are loads of options, it's just down to personal preference :D

Hello

yes I will buys a moses basket and a stand and have it in a separate bed.

then mother-in-law can set up her crib in the other room and I will make it up, coo and ah over it looking so pretty and then after this has worn off bring the cot through and put moses basket in.

what a hassle !

worth it tho, a smoky mattress and wicker ancient crib argh,, can't believe i thought it would be ok, just clicked when I saw it the other day, not having my baby in that !

eek !

I've got a Moses basket (M&P I think) that a friend gave us - his little boy only slept in it for 1 day

Just a quick question - I presume you're not supposed to use the little quilty blanketty thing that coems with the Moses basket for SIDS reasons? I have just made mine up last night with a fitted sheet and a cellular blanket (though will try swaddling / sleeping bag first) because I assumed that was safer?

Or are those blanketty things designed to be used with the Moses baskets??
