Dp and I are quite excited to be TTC again after such a long time, but I was taken off guard the other day. Just casually discussing the possibility of more children, when a colleague questions me, and says 'aren't you a little worried that somethibg maybe be wrong with the baby?, because you are 37 now'! Well no I wasn't, not until she piped up and highlighted the fact I'm not a spring chicken! Why do people always think they can share their very unwelcome opinions?

What a horrible thing to say! I've known loads of people have children at 37. You can always discuss this with your GP but I spoke to a fertility doc at 39 and this wasn't brought up.

I don't think she realised that she caused any offence, so she was a little shocked at my slightly annoyed response . But some people do not have a brain to mouth filter xx

Yes, there is a risk associated with age but not much more than with any other pregnancy. I know of many women, well into their forties who have had healthy, low-risk pregnancies. I believe that if you consult with your GP he/she will be able to give you a clear health plan which will enable you to enjoy a pregnancy just as much as any 20 year old.

FX for you hun :hugs: :dust:

I had my first baby at 37 following ivf on the NHS and my second 6 months ago at age 39. Both boys are healthy and never once was my age mentioned. There are always risks at any age, yes they increase with age but I wouldn't be overly concerned at your age x

I am 34 and still trying for our 1st. ...I think it's up to the couple trying whether or not they feel too old....nothing to do with a number or what their opinion is. Maybe for some like me it's not through choice but down to nature in the end!
