Hi all
This is going to be a long winded thread so please bear with me
Myself and my partner were both with orange
We decided to make a change to O2 as most of my family are on this network and I live quite far away from them so makes sense money wise having free mins O2 to O2
Anyway to cut a long story short im happy with my change
My partner on the other hand changed his mind 3 days after taking out the contract and by law you have a 7 day cooling off period so he rang O2 cancelled the contract as got his pack code to take his number back to orange as he wanted to return to them after being with them for 12 years with the same number
Turns out that O2 processed the pack code so he had to wait 3 days to get another pack code to take the same mobile number back to orange
Yesterday his same number of 12 years was meant to go live on his new orange contract... This is the bad bit during all the messing about and more than 6 hours on the phone to orange and more than 4 hours to O2 orange gave his mobile number of 12 years to an existing orange customer WHO didn't even know her number had changed I know this because i spoke to her yesterday!!!
So after my partner was on the phone to orange from 5pm till 10pm with orange last night they promised that it would be returned to him and his phone with his same 12 year old number would be working today and they promised us a phone call too let us know
It's now 5pm and my partners phone still doesn't work
We have had NO phone call from orange and my partner is without a phone at work while I am at home with our son who has been in and out of hospital
So if i need my partner I have to ring his colleagues phone
Can someone please tell me is this story worth taking further because personally I am absolutely disgusted with it all???
Thanks x

Hi, yes it is, what you need to do is ring orange and threaten to leave again, I know you dont want to do that cos that will add more complication tothe PAC code drama. you will be transfered to the 'disconnections' dept which is actually the "do everything you can to keep customer" dept. They are heavily targeted to keep customers, they can offer amazing deals, like crazy cheap, just to keep you. They will pretty much give you whatever you ask for because they are targeted to get you to stay after they take the call.

Explain that because of their error he was out of contact with his family while his child was in hospital. That he is disgusted that this error happened and it caused undue stress etc... they are able to offer very cheap monthly deals, unlimited free texts and internet in the package and they can credit your account so ask them to credit his account to compensate and he'll consider staying with orange. Its terrible that this has happened, theyve messed up badly, but you could use this to get a very cheap contract. I have 21 quid a month, on blackberry and I get over a thousand minutes, unlimited texts and data, and got 6 magic number in a go (youre only supposed to have 1 every 6 months) just by haggling and threatening to leave. Once they give you a contract, they never stop it.

After thats sorted, you could still write a letter of complaint, just detailing what happened and the situation you were in, but I would also add that you spoke to someone who was very helpful and youre now happy to stay a customer, but you would like them to be aware of the situation.
