Hi ladies,

Myself and my partner have been ttc for our first baby for 10 months now. Since coming off the pill my periods have been regular every month apart from this month. I'm now 17 days late for my period, I've done home pregnancy tests which have all come back negative. I also went to the doctors and received my blood results today and that also came back negative.

I'm not stressed, haven't put weight on, no excessive exercise so I have no clue as to why my period is so delayed.

Has this happened to anyone else? Getting very frustrated now as I've had stomach cramps for the past 2 weeks 😫

I've had that once. One cycle. My ex and I weren't even ttc. I had missed AF by a week before going to the doctor who confirmed with a bloodtest that I was not pregnant. I made an appointment with my gynecologist to see what was going on down there. In the meantime I would test and test and test and still have bfn after bfn. The gynecologist saw nothing out of the ordinary and told me to just wait. Eventually AF did come along but 4 weeks late. I had skipped a whole cycle but I don't know why. I was quite tired and working hard but there were no major changes in my life. I never knew why it skipped and never will.
Hope your AF does come through so you can start anew.
Good luck hun!x

Hi kitana,

Thank you for replying 😊

How strange that your body can just skip a cycle, it's so frustrating isn't it. I've been reading the possible explanations as to why this can happen and none of the reasons apply to me. I'm not worried that something is wrong, I think another trip to the doctors if AF doesn't appear next week.

Good luck with your journey xx

Hi! One possibility is that you had an annovulatory cycle. I don’t know too much about them and not experienced it personally but if you didn’t ovulate this month, your lining will keep building until a tipping point and AF will eventually come. You could always see your doctor if concerned x

Hi. Sorry to bring bad news but basically you just have to hang in there. We have been TTC for 18 months now and last year a few months in I had a very long cycle....took 47 days for AF to come. Was absolute torture u kept testing and didn't know what the he'll was going on. I'm usually between 29-33 days. Went back to normal after that and I have had one similar one this year....43 days. Seriously unfun but for whatever reason....whether it's missed ovulation or late ovulation....now and again our bodies chuck in a long one or for some people miss a one.

Try not to stress too much. Easier said than done I know. I found both time when i resigned myself that I wasn't pregnant my AF came within 24 hours. Probably coincidence but stress is a funny thing.

Good luck and baby dust x

Hi Nikkibiscuit,

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to. I was just worrying myself that something else could be wrong with me.

I'm now putting it to the back of my head and will wait for AF and then carry on trying again. Thanks for your help girls, good luck x
