we were wondering about giving Riley a bottle of sma white last thing at night, to see if it helps him sleep through a bit longer, at the mo he is getting up every 2 hours at night. :bored: lol!!

we were going to wait until whenever switching over and weaning, but someone accidentaly bought us a tub of the white instead of gold. so wee are thinking why not try him with one bottle and see how he gets on?

have any of you done this? Is it ok to give him gold most of the time and just one bottle of white?

any help is VERY appreciated girls!! :D

It's totally up to you hun but I think you mentioned he doesn't take much per feed anyway? If he's still waking at night it's probably because he needs the food - SMA white will make him feel full but not give him the extra nourishment that an extra bottle would if you know what I mean? I think if you're going to change it's probably best to change every feed as they're quite different.

We went through a phase where we'd do anything to get her to sleep a bit longer but in the end we rode it out and she was sleeping through by 12 weeks.

SMA white helps to keep baby feeling fuller for longer, they digest it slower, and like daftscotslass said, it doesn't actually give him anything extra as it were, so if he's not eating a lot at a feed, then the white SMA may not be right for him, he may be a little and often feeder right now, but he could very well settle down anytime too. I know it can get quite repetative feeding every 2hrs, though maybe give the white a miss and see if he starts to eat more, less regular by himself? Obviously you know him best, and having had Isaac on a number of formulas I know its all trial and error and how things work with your lifestyle, so do what you think is right, but I don't know about mixing 2 types of formula, but if they're both SMA that may be OK, I would ask your HV maybe? Very best wishes
