Tegans got to go back to hospital friday as the pediatrician thinks she's got a milk allergy she's got an appointment with the pediatrician and one with a Dietician. will they do any tests or anything? they originally thought it was Reflux But she's been on loads of Meds and there Not helping at all! any advice experiences will be a great help thanks ladies xx

I'm not quite sure what they will do but didn't want to read and run so I wish you luck for your appointment hunni good luck xxxx

Thanks Hun, they haven't really told me anything i just hope they can do something to help her she sounds like she's in so much pain xx

Oh no poor Tegan! (and you Hun, know you've had such a rough ride with her feeding/weight gain)

I hope you finally get some answers and poor Tegan is treated soon. Xxx

Thanks Hun! Im glad there finally doing something she's 14 weeks old now and only 11lb 4 oz i wouldn't mind If it was just because she was going to be little But If Im honest i don't think she feeds enough and she's sick so much that she probably isn't getting enough, my poor baby friday can't come quick enough xx

I think they will just trial new milk, I don't think there are tests they can do. Good luck xxx

Thanks Hun Im currently breastfeeding will be sad to stop But If that's what she needs it'll have to be xx

If your bf it sounds like reflux - if it is belle had this it lasts till their 1st birthday it's a bit that stops the gag reflex I think - can't exactly remember but it isn't closed properly but normally fixes itself by 1yr - also the advice I was given was try not to worry the goodness is absorbed as soon as the milk hits the stomach so even tho she might not be getting much the goodness will be absorbed some also they might look like they are chucking like 3oz up but it's prob only 1oz it's very difficult to judge grab 3 oz of water and chuck it not the floor it will look like loads I bet ya xx

Hi
As you know they think my lo is allergic to milk protein, from my understanding there isn't a test they can do, it's just trial and error :(
Have they advised you to adapt your diet to eliminate certain foods??
My lo is on a special milk but that's only due to him being so lazy he wouldn't bf in the first place!
He also has reflux, was on domperidone and ranitidine, but he's now been taken off of those and is still on gaviscon, but he still chucks up quite a lot each feed :(
I have a follow up paed appointment in march, will be interested to know what happens at your appointment :)
I'm sure all will be fine!

Sorry just reread that and I was meant to say
'you MAY know'!! At the beginning, silly iPhone!

Thanks Hun, they did advise that i cut out all products with dairy in i really struggled though (makes me sound awfull!) Tegan is on both them Meds and Gaviscon But there Not doing anything, what symptoms did your LO have Hun? has the special formula helping? i hate seeing her like this! xx

Henry refused to bf when born, he was put on sma but developed blood and mucus in number 2's he was swapped to Aptamil, still same nappies and then projectile vomited a whole feed over my dh hehe!
He was then admitted to hospital where he was just monitored but then started to refuse feeds, ended up on special milk, pregestimil and being tube fed (tastes disgusting) slowly started to take it and is now fine :) growing well, downing 7/8oz bottles and looking like he may want to start weaning soon! But got to wait to speak to dietician cause not sure how to start!
He's now 16 weeks.

Aww bless him glad he's better now! Tegan doesn't feed very well at all she will latch on feed for a couple of mins pull of and scream and scream for ages! she's forever projectile vomiting and her weight gain is Crap she was 8lb 1oz at birth and 11lb 4oz now she'll be 15 weeks on thursday xx

Hope you get some good advice on Friday! Keep us posted, if they do suggest a prescription milk and you end up having to bottle feed :( (I know you'd prefer not too) can I recommend dr browns bottles, they have helped Henry loads with his reflux and gas! I was trying to put him back on to Avent ones over the weekend, as the dr browns ones can be a pain to clean and henrys got to start nursery soon, but he was so grumpy and gassy I changed him straight back!
Hope it doesn't come to that for you though and it's just a case of tweaking meds!
Let us know how it goes x

I'll keep you posted Hun, i've excepted that i may have to stop breastfeeding Not happy about it But Tegans health comes first, i wondered If she had gone of breastfeeding so i've tried bottles of expressed milk and formula But she does the exact same thing! xx

sorry ZMD has your baby been like this from the start? I just posted a new thread about my LO being really sick for last wk and everyone thinks its a virus but Ive been worrying it might be the milk|! But he is 10 wks old and been totally fine on, so would it have started earlier if it was the milk? sorry to hijack your thread and really hope you get Tegan sorted on a milk that she can thrive on! xx

Your fine Hun no need to apologise! she's been a little bit sicky since she was 3 weeks old But shes only been really bad for the last 3 weeks since she was 12 weeks old! i read your other thread and it does sound like it could be the milk Hun have you taken him to the doctors? i had to take Tegan to 3 different doctors before they would listen! xx

We were told it was very unusual to have a problem from birth which is why they weren't sure what was wrong with Henry as it started straight away. I think I remember them saying it normally starts showing between 3 and 6 months!

Thanks ladies, he just starting to pick up a lot today, thank god, so probably is just a bug! Its all such a worry and doctors should be more patient with us! xx

Well Im now at the hospital waiting for her prescription, she's got different Meds for her Reflux and she's been prescribed sma Lactose free formula as she's Lactose intolerant! i've also got to have a dairy free diet If i choose to continue breastfeeding x
