hello girls! hope we are all doing well xx

Little Grace really plays up at feed time and of course hernight feed takes some time to prepare.

I heat her milk with hotwater from the kettle but for speed I was wondering if I could microwave it?

She's on Aptimil formula that I mix with cooled boild water.

PS when did your little one move from warm milk to room temperature?

love to all your little ones

My mum bottlefed and said to me if I was going to, never put it in the microwave as there are hot spots and you could scaled bubbas mouth.

I do microwave milk :eek:ops

He also takes aptamil and at 10 months still has it warmed.

Agree with Tasha about hot spots. I do shake well after microwaving. I think general advice is don't do it.

I know someone who microwaves the water only then adds the powder... she says this way the heat will even out and there would be no hotspots ( after shaking it of course) but I have been told not too I think it would have to be a personal decision.

Personally I can't see the problem as long as you shake it well but I wouldn't want to heat up the milk just the water as my friend does......

are you going to change your user name diane? at this rate we'll all be thinking you are expecting 27th januray again :rotfl:

no i've always used hot water in a jug & always will, my friends think i'm loopy & say the microwave is soooo much quicker, but i never will

I heat owens milk in the microwave, I only do 20 seconds on power level 3 I shake until I feel it's right then test it myself first if it's ok on the back of my wrist I will give it to owen.

If not it goes in cold water! :)

But I used to do it in the jug with kettle water when owen was younger.
it's all about perosnal opinion though I think. :)

Hiya

I know your not supposed to but i use the microwave i make all his bottles when he's gone to bed and then the next day they go in the microwave for 45secs i don't think willow ever had room temperature bottles she still ikes them hot now just one in the morning and one at night of cows milk and they go in for 50 secs. Although one of my cousins used to feed her kids bottles straight from the fridge so i assume it's whatever they are used to they stick to.

I used to use hot water and a bowl when Nathan was younger but then I started using mam bottles which take ages to warm up doing it that way :? so started microwaving them and they have been fine, just make sure you shake them well after you take them out of the microwave :)

Nathan still has his milk warmed now at 10 and a half months. He will take it at room temp but he prefers it warmed up :)

I microwave. With Mason I did it the "proper" way till he was about 1, but then once you start it's SO much easier.

We've always given it a good shake and I taste it to make sure it's the right temp. You'd never had a hot spot as long as you shake it well. When you heat baby food in the microwave later you'll give it a good stir and then test the temp, it's the same thing IMHO.

microwave!

i done the same as urchin. used hot water at first then once in a rush i used microwave and its soooo much easier 9seconds it was fine.

my 2 never had warm bottles they liked room temp so once they come out the fridge i would put them in the microwave to take the chill off never have there been hot spots.
when i heat food in the microwave there are hot spots though

I used to warm in hot water but it takes so long so now I admit I do sometimes warm it in the microwave but only for about 30 secs from the fridge so that it is just tepid and then I shake it loads.

I microwave. I used hot water with Jess and Aimee till they were about 3 months then got fed up and microwaved. With Nathan i have always microwaved and just give it a good shake. Aimee still has warm milk now at almost 16 months, she won't drink it cold.

alice has hers room temp, and i make them as i go. I leave bottles with boiled water on the side, and add the formula as i need them. takes a bit more shaking to get it to disolve, but it works for us.

Alice doesn't like her bottles warmed up

we stand it in hot water and he has it just warm. it does take a while to warm though especially when hes screming the house down!! :wall:

My three all had room temperature.
I take a tray up at night with the water and the formula, then just make up the bottles fresh as required.....
