Im moving to Spain on the 7th of september and have just found out that i am pregnant. It means by the time i actually leave i will be 15 weeks and 2 days. I have been employed by my current employer for 8 years and was going to hand in my notice this week to leave at the end of August but how does this affect me getting maternity pay? Should i put off the move for a few weeks to be entitled to anything or am i entitiled to smp anyway because of how long i have been employed.. Im just really confussed on what i should do....

No idea sorry but you may have more luck posting this in the Working During Pregnancy, Maternity pay, Benefits and Tax credits section.

the earliest u can get paid smp is 29 weeks , but i dont know if you will be entiitled if u leave the uk ? squiglet might know ? but i know she doesnt get child allowance from her ex cos she's now is spain even tho she's british

Yes you would still be entitled to it providing you are already receiving it before you move, you also DONT have to repay SMP if you are not going to be returning to work for the employer that pays the SMP.

google 'SMP UK' and it'll give you the DWP site

I go to live abroad or visit?
If you are already getting SMP and go abroad, your employer will still pay you SMP.

Not really sure but just wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy! :cheer: hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months
