maternity and employer going insolvent???!!!!!!

I'm due to go on maternity at the end of july and the company has just told us they only have enuf money to pay us till end of june and are either looking for another company to buy them out or declare as insolvent/bankrupt!!!

Any one know where i stand as regards to my maternity pay and stuff. (i just qualify for the 6 weeks at 90% of wage and the full 12 months off)

If another company buys them out and they take you on i think you will be paid the 90% by them.

If they go bankrupt then i would assume you wouldnt get anything because there would be no company to pay you.

Just a bit of an update if anyone is interested.

The company i work for went bust in the end. (they couldnt find a buyer) I've lost my extra statuary maternity pay and can now only claim maternity allowance. (not sure what that will come to yet)

That is awful, poor you. I think it is disgusting that employees come bottom of the list when it comes to paying what they are owe, after banks and other creditors.
